GI Joe like another product has always been adapting to the times. And as the times are changing now I think GI Joe needs to change with it. And the change needed to adapt is going digital. Simply put GI Joe needs a major video game release. Kids are not buying as many toys these days, because they have stuff like Xboxs, PlayStations, PCs and whatever else. It has gotten to the point to where the video game industry is starting to make more then the movie industry. This all points to one thing in my eyes. GI Joe needs a game. But what should this game look like?
In my opinion a GI Joe game needs to have a 3rd person perspective option. The reason for this would be to see you character which would fit GI Joe because of all the unique designs. And a First person perspective can also be added for those who do not like 3rd. The market does not need another Call of Duty type game. There is already an abundance of those. And if GI Joe became a Call of Duty game I am almost sure it would flop. This is why I think the game should be more like Star Wars Battlefront 2, or Ghost Recon Wildlands. But of the 2 a Star Wars Battlefront style game would work better in my opinion because it is a jump in and play type of game, that would work well for Joe because of character designs, vehicles, maps, and a game that is friendly to new comers. But does anyone else have thoughts on any of this? Does GI Joe need a game, and if so what type of game does it need? Star Wars Battlefront 2 is pretty much just a 3rd person Call of Duty, with many of te same game modes and the same quick play feature. Where GI Joe could excel as a game is not through multiplayer, but for an in depth story mode (with the standard 3rd/1st person shooter mechanics) based off of the Marvel comics.
Another thing that could work better is GI Joe colabs with existing games, almost like how Fortnite has had colabs with Star Wars, Stranger Things, Infinity War and Endgame, Marshmello, Nike, Major Lazer, Deadpool and the X-Force, and Travis Scott |

I agree that GI JOE has to adapt to this new digital age and should aim to attract new fans, as well as keep existing ones happy. I think you’re on to something here, and maybe that’s why Hasbro released the War On Cobra game. I’ve been looking back at some of the Toy Fair interviews and it seems that everyone on the Joe brand was advertising three key elements- the Classified line, the game, and the Snake Eyes movie. I don’t know how successful the game has been, but I could see Hasbro going for something a bit more ambitious in that respect in the future. I hope the new film is able to generate interest and can achieve some sort of critical and financial success. However, you can tell that it will change things up a bit as they cast an up-and-coming actor in the title role and he’ll definitely speak for at least a portion of the movie. In regards to the Classified line, I think Hasbro has the right idea and has come up with great designs for the most part (Roadblock should have been better).
All in all, I agree that Hasbro should look into studying digital markets and see what more they can do there and at the same time continue with the Classified and Retro lines (and hopefully more films)! |

If they did a GI JOE game, it better be violent and not cartoon BS. It’s needs body counts, vicious representation of cobra, IG , CG. Dark.
Joes doesn’t need to go COD route. Joes needs to go Rainbow Six route . Throughout different eras of war. Vietnam, Cold War, Iraq.
