Let me see...
Code Name: Red Cap File Name: Manionak, Aliaksandr Ivanovich Primary Military Specialty: Counter-insurgency Secondary Military Specialty: Sabotage Birthplace: Minsk, Belarus, USSR Red Cap got his start during the Second World War as a conscript. He proved himself capable of sneaking behind enemy lines and causing havoc in German territory. At some point, he began painting his helmet with blood from fallen enemies. Reports say it was due to a vendetta for murdered family members. When the war had ended, the USSR put Red Cap to work dealing with insurrections, using his infiltrator know-how to slip into rebel and terrorist cells anywhere he was needed. He was given a squad of operatives, allegedly part of the Spetsnaz. He began wearing a red commissar's cap as a nod to his actions in WWII. Eventually, he would become the commander of an elite Soviet counter-insurgency team. Sometime after the Red Shadows began operating in Poland, Red Cap was tasked with their extermination. While he was eager to destroy the fascists, his men were not successful. Worse, he was kidnapped from his base of operations, and had the Baron's mind-control gas used on him. Since this point, his expertise in multiple forms of unconventional warfare has been put to use in deploying Red Shadows operatives across the world, successfully carrying out raids, bombings, and similar operations that others would find inconceivable. His capture/death is considered essential to national security by every state in Europe and many beyond. |

Great suggestions and concepts everyone, I won't quote them all here or this post will be massive but I have enjoyed reading all of them, keep them coming.

The "red ..." is not a hard and fast rule for the Red Shadows (there is the Black Major for a start). I have a concept for a scientist and want to combine Dr and Red to form a play on Dread (but the best I have come up with is Dr D Red which I am sure can be improved on) Quote:
A great idea, foreign versions of red could also work, the German "rot" has potential. Worryingly I already have a Red Rocket (perhaps I should rephrase that!) |

Well, the other Red Shadows I had without Red Blank names were the sniper Kill-shot, the grenadier Shrapnel, the hacker Landline, the anti-tank rocketeer Bombshell, the CBRN specialist Airburst and the machine-gunner Chainsaw.
The customs on BFTB are often shown on the site without names attached... If you go to the customs section under "fanfic" on the main site, and look at Humby248's stuff, his first vehicle driver is called Red Saracen. If you look at Paulitoy's stuff, his Shad radio operators are "Red Interceptors" and his frogmen are "Red Piranhas". He also did a vehicle driver called "Red Terror" who drives the Terrortrak, which IIRC, is the Shadowtrak with the MMS turret on the back. (Paulitoy's stuff is worth looking at all around, the guy's a top-drawer customiser) The guy called "Red Baron" did a different Shad frogman called "Red Barracuda" - which is basically Barracuda's arms, head and legs on a Shad torso. Monkfish did a custom frogman called "Red Eel" - basically an Eel with a Shad logo on the chest. He did some others I think he called Red Torpedos or Shadow Torpedos because they're customised from Torpedo v1. The Kraken Wakes did a pilot called "Red Storm" for his Shad version of the Hurricane - called Red Hurricane natch. |

I've been working on a British assassin custom but haven't decided yet on whether Action Force or Red Shadows. Will be pretty with short, coiffed blonde hair.
Code name is 'Lady Die'.

There are a bunch of great ideas in this thread. Whenever possible I like to riff off of something that's already established rather than create entirely new characters from scratch. I think I like the challenge of fitting disparate parts together into a cohesive world. But the Red Shadows are one of those organizations that definitely needs more named characters, given their power and significance.
In my joe-verse the Red Shadows pre-dated Cobra, reaching the height of their power in the late 70s before being undone from within by a young CC (known then as Red Serpent) with help from the crimson twins (ambitious teenagers at the time, who go on to use their assets, gear, and aesthetic to create the Crimson Guard). Some of the surviving core members reform the Red Shadows, secretly at first through the 90s, before re-emerging more prominently in the early 00s, well after the initial defeat of Cobra in the mid-90s. In this telling, each Red Shadows member of a high-enough rank chooses or is assigned a title based on an animal and its characteristics, such as: Red Lion (aka Baron Ironblood) Red Hound (aka Black Major) Red Fox (aka Red Laser) Red Jackal (no relation to Destro) Red Vulture (as "Vulture" goes on to form the short-lived R.I.O.T from the Eagle Force line) Red Wolf Red Serpent (aka Cobra Commander) Red Eagle (joins later, based on DDP's Wilder Vaughn) Red Spider (joins later, based on DDP's Dela Eden) Red Bear (joins later, based on DDP's Artur Kulik) I may draw from some of the ideas in this thread to fill out the modern roster |

Going to assume you've seen a lot of the cool customs and ideas in this overall Action Force Thread .The Red Shadows stuff is more towards the middle to end.
