Are they a thing anymore? Also, I know the Joe's had Big Ben as a member, seems like he would have been part of Action Force. The Brits version of the Joe's. I dont know much about Action Force though.
My knowledge about Joe lore is severely lacking compared to most of you. |

They are in my Joeverse!!! I just treat them as Russia's version of GI Joe. They still have the red stars as the team voted not to change their uniforms.
That and I didn't want to modify my Joecon figures with new sigils:

I would guess that they went through some turmoil in the early 90s as the USSR dissolved, but then managed to reconstitute themselves mostly on their own initiative a few years later, though maybe with only occasional visits from some former members who were & are just too badly needed in their own smaller, newly independent countries to be away from them for long.
As far as who they work for, my preference is to imagine that they retain a relationship with the Kremlin and have some members who are still official members of the Russian armed forces, but that largely they are a little more like A-Team now, not really in the sense of always being on the run, but in that they do lots of various jobs that they also think are worthwhile causes. Maybe they have a deal w/ the Russian gov to do a specific upstanding task, such as track down any nukes that might go missing, or steal them from smaller countries or groups that might be securing them improperly or be a threat to use them. & so I imagine them getting some money and arms from the Russian gov in return, along with a degree of leeway to do their own thing. But I can’t see them as general purpose henchmen of the current regime. Last edited by books; 04-08-2020 at 05:44 PM.. |

My Joe-verse still takes place in the ‘80s when it comes to the Oktober Guard. Also none of them died and their team has expanded with new members.

In my Combined Universe fan-fic, the Guard still exists in the late 1990s as a Russian unit, although Daina's still in it, with an expanded roster. I added Ruslan from DDP, Wong from the cartoon, Big Bear, Volga as a separate character to Daina as the helo co-pilot, a commando frogman called Akula (Russian for shark), a fighter pilot called Berkut (Golden Eagle), and a load of others with random-ass Russian names as (variously) communications specialist, desert warfare specialist, medic, intel specialist, marksman, recon specialist, undercover specialist, two vehicle drivers, arctic specialist and ... I think a paratrooper.
I also added Iron Bear as the CO above Red Star. |

In my Joeverse the team is international, so the OG are Joe team members. The world is united against Cobra.
