The hard part is the fact that you will end up with people saying that Hasbro is just using the line as a recruitment drive to get people to join the military.
Personally I believe that the line in general is not promoting the current conflicts but it does help to bring a small level of support to our troops. |

Alright...so how did this thread go from image re-making to anyone being anti american?
Let's get back to the topic at hand....a new image. Take me, for example. I too need a new image. Let's explore, shall we?: I turned 30 last December. As of today, Tuesday, May 29th, I still don't have any facial hair, I have TWO chest hairs (Bill & Ted respectively), and the frame of a bowling pin (skinny up top, WIDE LOAD on the bottom). If anything, I'm the one that needs a new image. And some facial hair. And maybe a mullet. Chicks dig mullets. |

I think Cobra needs to be written into the toyline as a far more dangerous threat then the last time we saw them in a 3-3/4" scale. Venom vs Valor had a storyline that was too campy. I think it might have worked better for a subset or side story, but not as a main story for an entire year. The whole animal DNA altered humans used as soldiers story isn't new. Not to mention it strayed even further from realism, and well the imagined realism is the fun of the line. Nothing extremely realistic, but "believable", if that makes any sense. Gijoe is known as a military fighting force, Venom Vs Valor made them look like zoo keepers.
So we need a Cobra that is up to date and at a cold war style stand off with the Joes. As the joes struggle to catch up with their technology, Destro's MARS division constantly cranks out even more advanced vehicles and equipment for cobra. More lethal vipers. Not just cannon fodder. Vipers that win. Make it more like Empire Strikes Back was for Star Wars; letting the bad guys get close to winning. It is in this struggle between good and bad, and overwhelming odds that the heroism of the joe characters can be advanced and witnessed by kids. With cobras constantly increasing their edge, the joes are constantly trying to catch up. This means new and better things for both sides. Just a thought. The new image. A joe team that strives and goes up against the overwhelming and ever advancing odds of cobra, and utilizes a unified effort to finally defeat cobra and pave peace for another day. Oh and also, joes and cobras have been international to begin with, so I see nothing wrong with saying "A real international hero". The roster on both sides to begin with was international. Destro was Scottish. Baroness was European. Storm Shadow was Japanese. Same with Budo. Nunchuk was Italian. Etc. |

I'd like to see the realism in the weapons and vehicles, as stated before.
What really hooked me on the vehicles was they were not far off from real vehicles. Yes, some of them had lots of artillery to them...but they were possible to be made. This is probably why I never really got into the Star Wars toys as a child, I just prefer something that I can actually "see" now...rather than say 20 years down the line. As for adding the realism into the conflict...that would be a HOT issue. One that I don't think anyone in a business of trying to market a product would want to "alienate" their consumer pool to a certain public, you want all to be interested and purchase your product. And I seriously think it would limit their customer base. I don't see this debate as being patriotic or non-patriotic (an American flag flies proudly in my yard, and I salute all vets and currently serving defenders of our freedom). This debate is about turning a profit on a product...and remember, if the product turns a profit...the line continues. I for one am all for that.
