my second vamp met it's end with R&R ,CLUTCH, driving right into a set of road flares oh the smell their is nothing like the smell of burning, charred plastic in the morning, i was lucky enough to get 2 of almost every figure at least when i was young, and since i was 9 when they came out i only trashed a couple and kept 70% of them in package but i have now sold all of my loose figures from the 80's and kept only the packaged ones i still have a ton of vehicles though oh well my kid is hooked up i guess ....

I did destroy some toys as a kid. I remember a terrible fate that happened to a Crimson Guard at the hands of a brick. The mail-in Hooded Cobra Commander was chopped into little pieces by my Mom's butcher knife. Tan Grunt and '92 Duke were burned. My original Optimus Prime was turned into a movie accurate battle damaged version without the arm (like in the cartoon when he came back), and last but not least, I fed Stormtroopers to my Golden Lab back in '82. I was a stupid child!
I should add that most of my Joes were either traded, passed on to other kids by gift or trade, or played with until nothing was left. Yo joe! Last edited by blayze5150; 08-11-2009 at 05:23 PM.. |

I had a Stormtrooper I painted red once. To remove it, my Aunt used Fingernail Polish Remover. You can imagine the end result. Needless to say, he and my "short" Stormtrooper (poor guy spent several months in a furnace vent in the winter before being rescued. When he came out, he looked like Tatoo from Fantasy Island) were always the "already shot dead" troops in my display.

I had one figure, a BAT. His arm broke off, I glued it back together. He got dropped, stepped on, thrown, slammed, took a hit from every kind of spring-loaded launcher ever made, was dissasembled and repaired, and fought in countless battles and campaigns.
In five years his O-ring never even broke. I don't know what happened to that BAT, and after all that I'm really sorry I didn't look harder in my old childhood stuff before it got thrown away after a fire. I think it's a testament to how well made some of those were made that they can survive so much if you take care of them. Machines don't die, they get upgrades. |
