I want to hang my SDCC starscream and Jetfire skystrikers on my wall with the wings fully extended. In the past someone mentioned using a command 3M hook and hanging it by the landing gear. I'm just afraid that this will be too much stress and cause it to break.
Anyone have any good solutions? Also, I live in an apt, so the less destructive the better. |

I tend to use heavy test fishing line, both my OG skystriker and night raven have been in flight for the past 6 years this way, haven't had to change the line once. If you're looking to have them flush without wall, should actually be safer for you, not to mention the fact that yours are newer. I'd loop the line around the body where the wings pivot, myself. Way more structurally sound. From there, hang the line in a hook, and you've got yourself some taxidermied aircraft!

Two ideas come to mind:
1) Find a tiny washer that can fit around the screws and inside the crew holes on the bottom of the plane, tie fishing line to the washer, install the washer under a screw on the body of the plane, and use the fishing wire to support the plane with those 3M hooks you mentioned. If you can't find a suitable washer you could just tie the line to the screw, but you risk having the line slip off the screw head. 2) I can 3d print a set of tight-fitting plugs for the screw holes with a small channel cut along one side of the plug. Tie the line to the top of the plug (in a recessed groove), then push the plug into the hole with the line routed through the channel to the exterior of the screw hole. Support the plane with the line and your 3M hooks. Both methods are non-destructive and keep the weight on the main fuselage. I like the plug idea best since it keeps pressure off of the screw. In fact, I'm going to design and list these plugs I just thought of anyway 'cause it's a perfect solution for wall-mounting a Skystriker now that I think of it.
