So now that we are done getting new G.I. Joe figures, I am reworking my displays a bit and I wanted some opinions.
Probably my favorite part of my Joe set up is a wall where I have the ARAH figure displayed in front of his/her modern sculpt counterpart. When I first set up this display, I left spots for Joe's that might still come out. That way when a new figure was made, I could just put the figure up and not have to move a bunch of other figures. Because of the space I was working with, I only went through 1991, and I had to set up my subteams elsewhere. Now I am clearing out the figures that do not have a modern counterpart, and I have 37 spots to work with. Here's what I have to work with: - 6 original BF2000 - Steel Brigade (Don't have ARAH yet) - Star Duster (Don't have ARAH yet) - 8 tiger force (although I am on the fence of whether the modern Recondo is a close enough match to display with the original.) - Dee Jay - 5 Slaughters Marauders (Only have two of the ARAH, but these are now among my top priority figures) - 5 Python Patrol (don't have modern Tele-Viper, and with his price tag, he is a low priority get for me right now. Also, only have 1 ARAH but like the Marauders, the ARAH PP at the top of my list to pick up) - 6 Sky Patrol - 7 Eco Warriors (Don't have ARAH Toxo Zombie yet, but have the rest) - Barricade - Big Bear - Bullet Proof - 10 Ninja Force - Ninja Viper (Don't have ARAH yet) - General Flagg (Don't have ARAH yet but he is an inexpensive add) - Night Creeper Leader - Battle Corps Viper (Don't have ARAH, but an inexpensive add) I never had the SM Brazil or any Night Force figures growing up, and since the ARAH figures were going to be so $$$ to add, I did not keep the Modern Figures either. Besides that, similarly to Tiger Force, Python Patrol, and Slaughters Marauders, these were "Parallel" Subsets in that they were just re-painted older characters. Any thoughts or opinions? Help me out...

I'm a little different than others, but I display my modern figures by their original ARAH years of release.
So one year, 1988, had a few Night Force figures, they'd be with the rest of that year's figures. Then the remaining Night Force from 1989 would be with that year's figures, meaning I do not sort by subsets. I do not collect o-rings, so that's not an issue.

I was just curious how others would approach this

I believe several of those "holes" were filled by the Joe Club, but your mileage may vary.

I got Black Major versions of those three figures (also a gold head SB). They look great and for the money, good enough for my display.

The club has done a ton (I have most of their modern figures) but they haven't done some, like Backblast, stretcher, light foot, etc. That's why I have some open slots now.

My displays are similar but a bit different too. I have the'83 HQ set up with ME figures mostly from the first 4-5 years. I wanted it to loosely resemble the scene in issue #49 where the Joes are getting a pep talk from Hawk prior to the Battle of Springfield. Then in another spot I have ME Joes from waves 5-7 set up.
