If I knew then back in 1983 to 1985 when I was a little kid what I know now, I should have had my parents buy some O rings from the Coast to Coast store. That way I wouldnt have had to throw away some G.I. Joe figures that fell apart back then.

Dann that's horrible. I didn't realize as a kid it was such an easy fix either but fortunately I only threw away a couple most of them I kept for some reason. The great resurrection was a glorious time.

I remember getting smaller rubber bands and looping them over and over and over to fix my broken Joes. However I don't really remember them breaking all that much as a kid.

Yes we did this too, but it was extremely difficult. Even *if* you could get the rubber band looped enough times and get it put all back together, the figure would often be very loose.

i actually remember I customized some of my figures back in the day when a part would break. I think my dad is the one who figured out you can take apart the figures. guess I was kinda lucky. I did end up losing some figures over the years. but I dont recall ever throwing any away.

I did this too! Still regret it to this day. As a senior in high school I had a job and got back into joe collecting and managed to get a pretty sizable vintage collection going and ended up selling it in 2002 on ebay so I could have beer money for college. Very shortsighted but seemed like a good idea at the time
