Christmas 1986, i was 5 i received the Terrordrome, Tomahawk, and a Stun. A few years later i got a mobile command center, and the last BIG Joe item i got was a General.
The Terrordrome was one of my absolute favorite toys as a kid. I still have it, and hope to bring it back to its former glory one day.Something about looking at the control panels, refueling station, and the jail cell immediately give me nostalgia. |

Oh WOW! Thanks for posting. I had way outgrown Joe by that point, to the point that it was so off my radar completely. I never even saw the box for the Defiant. I had no idea that box was that big.

I remember getting the HQ in 85 i think, for Christmas, Castle Greyskull in 86, the Flagg in 87 and the defiant in 89/90. For some reason I always got the biggest gifts at Christmas between my brother and sister. I remember going to New York for Christmas in 87 to visit grandparents and sitting behind the tree was the flagg, half wrapped because they had run out of wrapping paper.I wasnt able to open it and play with it because we had to ship it back home to California, which was the most difficult thing to do. I also got the tomahawk that year, but when i put it together it only had 9 out of the 10 blades and was missing the left front weapons pylon. I remember walking into my parents bedroom and literally running into the defiant that my parents had put in their room. The box was taller than I was. I some how managed to get 2 out of the three big playsets (Flagg, Defiant and Terror Drome) as a child. I didn't get the terror drome until 04/05 when I found one on ebay. I some how also managed to get the Rolling Thunder, Phantom X-19 and MCC for my birthday with in the space of two years. The funny thing is, is that I never had that many figures to man anything because most of my collection was stolen when we moved in California. We had just moved to on base housing in Fort Ord California, and my dad told me to put my joes out of the way. So me being a 7 year old dumb-ass thought that putting my joes, most of which were in a laundry basket, in the little woods behind my house was the safest place for them. Came back the next day and they were all gone. That pretty much left me with the flagg and HQ for quiet a while.

1986. One of my all time favorites. Woke up to find a huge box with a terrordrome in it. Played with it all day using the tree as alpine made his way down to infiltrate. Sadly i was young and dumb enough to trade it to a friend a year later for a hampster in a cracked fish tank.
The hampster died 2 weeks later. Smh |

I would consider the WHALE a sort of playset. It's the only one I ever received for Christmas anyways. It was one of the best presents ever although my step-dad hated it and told my mom I was too old for toys now. I was 12 at the time.
The rest of the story I've told often enough, but suffice to say I also got a brand new 10-speed and proceeded to race the thing right into a brick wall. I was banged up pretty badly and when I woke up the next morning at the hospital, I found my step-dad had brought in my Killer WHALE filled with figures and left them at the foot of my bed. |

I never had the big three but I got a lot of the great hallmark vehicles like the Whale, Mauler, Tomahawk, Night Raven, Skystriker etc. |
