At least you can avoid some of the early 25th stuff and most of RoC, which hasn't aged well.
I'd recommend focusing on the best stuff and be realistic about your display intentions/space. Welcome!

Ah the old plastic crack addiction strikes again. Be careful not to let your possessions turn obsession. As a completionist myself, it was difficult not to buy up everything at once just to have the entire set. Slowly take your time and appreciate it all over time, after all, Rome wasn't built in a day, nor is your collection.

I'm in a similar situation as you. Also started collecting in 2016, and now my collection is 200+ strong. I've actually started downsizing a bit, cutting all the stuff i have no real connection to from the collection. But i still have a lot on my wish list, so it kind of goes both ways at the moment.
Ever since i started modding and improving my figures, i also find myself thinking about custom recipes and such all the time. I never thought this hobby would be so time consuming. It's quite addictive actually. |

Started just over a year ago, almost done. 700-some figures, with a handful of customs, 8.0, and some of the Final 12 remaining. Looking forward to being done.

first off, you guys make me feel sane. LOL
I started in 2012, luckily got to get a fair amount of stuff at retail. I am really into the customizing, and am now looking to get rid of a lot of stuff that is still MOC because I hate opening up a joe to just get a part, when I could get one already opened, or not complete. And, I am seriously considering paying 60 bucks for a Slaughter Marauder Footloose cause I like the headsculpt, and it is a bargain compared to the regular gijcc footloose. |

I never had a lot of joes growing up because my parents thought there were too many loose pieces and they'd just clutter up the house, but I always wanted them, seeing my friends' and family's collection. So for the past two years I've been on a rampage, buying up as many modern era GI Joe's as I can. I literally had none in 2016, but then a trip to Toys R' Us changed it when I saw the 50th pack with Alpine, Rock Viper, and shock trooper.
Now I have about 200+ general release, FSS, Convention figs, etc. almost out of nowhere. I don't even wanna think about how much I've spent on the after market growing this collection LOL. I guess knowing that I'm coming home to a new joe helps get me through the day at work. All the while I find myself thinking about GI Joe's throughout the day and I'm here browsing at work at figs that I already have and want to buy LOL Anyways this hobby is hella fun. Can anyone else relate? Sorry for the long rant Before the 25th Joes hit shelves and I stumbled into this place I had no idea that there were other adult GI Joe fans, or at least to the level that I was. It’s nice to know that the line ment other kids the way it ment to me. That and troop building Cobras. Then when you’re temporarily content with your Collection you’ll start restoring vintage Joes, collecting blueprints and old inserts, boxes, cardbacks, it’s a real rabbit hole.

Had my own binge last year - got rid of pretty much all my 25th anniv and beyond figures and went back to collecting from the ARAH line up to 2006 (the ARAH mold stuff). It's damn fun and addictive - still paying down my paypal credit account by selling old PCs and IT equipment hehe. Enjoy it! I do hope GI Joe does make a return to market sometime soon.
