As stated, the A-10, F-117 and SR-71 shouldn't be on the list. The F-14 is iffy, as it's also retired (117 and 71), but not entirely useless, though most of the remaining aircraft on the list, given a properly trained pilot, could burn down a Tomcat fairly easily.
The Super Flanker hasn't even been ordered by the Russians to my knowledge, so it's basically a bunch of modified Su-35s. That said, out of the available list i have to say the F-22, at least on paper. As much as i find the aesthetics of the Raptor as unappealing to look at as Britney Spears' unshaved cooze, it is apparently an incredibly difficult adversary to close with. If any of the said aircraft could close to within dogfighting range I'd say they'd all have a good chance of smoking the Raptor. Like i said, though, you've got to get in there. |

F-15's my favorite bird ever so I gave it my vote. It's certainly not the best anymore but it looks like it'll be with us in one form or another for a long time to come.

My bad... lol... I meant Su-35. I remember reading up on both and I had the 37 stuck in my had.... Still a sweet plane though....

I gotta give it to the Raptor. I've heard pilots say that it's so advanced that it's almost not even fair to their opponents.
I'll give the F-18 and Thunderbolt props though. For their respective roles, both are amazing as well, and for its day the SR-71 Blackbird was just a monster (but not actually a fighter). |

She's beautiful and deadly, and it's a crying shame we're only going to end up with 187 of them. But I suppose the next-next-generation fighter is being designed as we speak.
On a related topic, I really want some company to make a Joe-scale f-35!

I took "best" to just mean coolest or your favorite.
A well-done, in-scale F-117 Stealth would be so, so sweet. I also picked "other" because I love how the F-4 Phantom II looks. I know it's an oldie, but it looks so, so cool. It was in service more recently than the SR-71 Blackbird, I think. |

You got it... I guess I should have said that to begin with.... So yeah, not necessarily the best of all time, just the one you like the most...
