Anyone else try to figure out how old Joes are? I remember thinking Duke was 34 or 35 based on his file card. I remember reading a comic where Hawk (as a Colonel) said something about "30 years in the military...) and so assuming he was rounding up he would've been late 40's and then probably 51 or 52 as a general? Flint went to school, did a year of graduate work (Rhodes Scholar) and then enlisted, so at best he was 23 then. Few years of service, including time with Duke and Roadblock so 28-30 for Flint? I don't know why I let these things take up so much room in my head.

This has already been covered in the "What Secrets Lurk in the File Cards?" thread. Check out pp. 194-200, or thereabouts.

In fact I do not think that a daring higly trained special missions force could have members below their thirties. They are the best of the best and achieving that takes time.

TO address the topic...since these characters spawned from Vietnam era, it's safe to say most of them are about the same age as Senator John McCain by now..so damn near 80. Maybe this is the reason the demand for new characters is starting to grow. Note to us old farts on this forum: We need new characters that relate to the younger contingent for the same reasons why we need to jettison all of these congressman and senators that are eligible for Medicare Part D! How old are our beloved Joe's? Old as crap!

I assume they would have to be as young as can be for the most part, to meet the Time in Grade(TIG), Time in Service(TIS) Requirements.
This way they can stay young forever. So most of the Joes E-6 and under will be 24 and under, if they are exceptional individuals. The higher ranking NCO using the Minimum Time in Grade requirements: Sergeant First Class (E-7)—6 years Master Sergeant/First Sergeant (E-8)—8 years Sergeant Major (E-9)—9 years However, more typical ages are below. THis means some of the older cooler Joes who are probably E-7s are likely 30-35 years old depending on any College education. Duke and Stalker are likely Around 39. But who is older? Specialist/Corporal (E-4)—18 months Sergeant (E-5)—4.2 years Staff Sergeant (E-6)—8.5 years Sergeant First Class (E-7)—13.6 years Master Sergeant/First Sergeant (E-8)—17 years Sergeant Major (E-9)—20.8 years https://www.thebalance.com/enlisted-...simple-3331909 You figure all the Vietnam vets have to be the oldest Joes. Keel-Haul Colton Payload Claymore Wild-Bill Duke Stalker Snake-Eyes Leatherneck Shipwreck Spirit Gung-Ho, Torpedo were likely Vietnam vets but never established. They are probably as old. Hawk and Repeater should be up here too.
