If you worked at Hasbro on the Joe team, that is?
I am still sad that the "now and then" series never progressed past the snowjob set that was a Target exclusive in what, 2009? I think that'd be a cool way to kill 18 months or so. And it would be pretty reminicent of how they really dig into the vintage stuff with the Transformers line lately. Bringing back a little vintage might be just enough to tide people over till there's a new movie. Start with some 2 packs (like the rumored Snake Eyes set) where its just the two figures (one new, one old) then maybe have a few vehicle sets... Maybe a Vintage HISS with driver and cobra trooper vs a modern VAMP with a driver and another figure? 5-6 2 packs and 2 vehicle sets would be a good first year, then another 3-4 two packs and 2 vehicle sets for year two. Of course the modern figs should be PoC/50th updates (they could give us a good Tele-viper finally!) What would you do if you were in charge? |

"Dollar General" style waves.
Or two-packs. Maybe two packs would be better. |

"Vintage" series, using the old explosion cardbacks and getting us the characters that neither Hasbro nor the club has done in modern era from the 80s through the 2000s. Or as many as they can reasonably put out, along with updates of guy without "great" figures like Duke, and especially Roadblock.

There's so many easy, cool figures you could get out. The DG waves sold well didn't they? Why'd they run so short? Charge two more dollars if you have to, I know I'd still buy them. I mean, for all I know, I single-handedly bought up all the DG stock that made it's way out here, but as far as I could tell it was successful. No shelf clutter, fans actually wanted them, ect. Dammit, I thunk too hard about Hasbro's Joe-handling and now I'm bummed. Again. |

As last years Cobra missle base sold out as a SDCC exclusive. So I would find items that have yet to be re-released and package them as an exclusive, since Hasbro does not believe G. I. Joe can sell at any major retailers.

An FSS type lineup or 5-Pack using new parts via HasLab.

If they have to, they should make these direct-to-consumer and do pre-orders so they can gauge what will actually sell and start tailoring the line toward that. The last thing we need is for them to over-produce and try to sell us another 25th CC repaint with another Blowtorch re-release - or, heaven forbid, 5-PoA figures - and then act perplexed when nobody buys them...and then to kill the line off again since "aw gee, there must just not be any interest in Joes." I think an easy Haslabs project would be to just release the remaining vault figures plus any high-demand canceled figures as a set. Replace movie-likeness heads where applicable. Heck, I think the easiest damn Haslabs project of all time would be a 2-pack consisting of a 50th Cobra Officer (the vault version, not the SDCC version) and a 50th Cobra Stinger Driver. If they set the price low enough to entice the average Joe buyer to bite AND BUY MULTIPLES (as opposed to pricing them at $40+ per figure like the club) and set the quantity needed to fund it high enough for them to still meet their desired profit margin at the price point being offered then I think it could do very well. You would just need someone in Haslab to be sentient enough to realize the financial requirements on BOTH sides, and build the project to suit. Having seen only one Haslab project so far, there is no way to tell yet if they have any great minds behind them or not. Hopefully they do.

I’d be happy with the remaining CV figures- particularly the troop builders like Tele, Cobra Officer, and Stinger Driver. Wouldn’t mind a well done 50th ARAH updated Duke. We’ve gotten so many Dukes but so few of them have been done well.

Yeah not sure why Hasbro didn't keep up with this. It seems they sold very well at both Dollar General and on QVC. They could easily give us another couple years of waves just using existing parts. Like many have already mentioned They could even do the big name characters Duke Snake Eyes roadblock Etc and give us way better versions than we previously got. I don't need all the extra accessories or they could even sell accessory packs like they did in the 80s.
