i was bored and poking around and got to thinking. all his file cards list him as a member of cobra but we know he is a man for hire also. in a round about kinda way sorta like destro, bludd, or even zartan?
so if someone where to hire him or say he had his own vehicle what would his logo be. i know he stays in the shadows and dont want to be seen but this gi joe a fantasy world and if the noks can have a logo why no firefly? so what would it be? something obvious and corny like picture of some kinda firefly? or would it be something with his face? just wondering. id like to see some artist draw up something. so then my little brain wonders over to his ninja side. i did a quick search and i dont see any pictures of his clan tatt. being a comic id think that his clan would have one. they were friends of the arashikage but if FF is the now head of them, him being a bad man, has turned them into men of hire kinda being enemies of the arashikage. maybe even having a hand in the down sizing of them. so would his ninja clan sysmbol be the inverse of the arashikage? if the arashikage is #63 in the i-ching, #64 is the inverse. this would keep it kinda simple, larry did say he picked it because it was easy to remember for him and the artists. then i looked around and found that the koga clan he is adopted into is a real thing and comes from royalty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koga_family so does that mean he could be some kinda royality? being a comic book world the koga clan could still be prominate in this world behind the scenes. hey if destro can be a lord why not FF. thoughts? |

I would imagine a saboteur like Firefly likely would not want to leave a signature at the scene of his crimes, as it would increase the amount of heat he would have to ward off, thus making hiring him less appealing to potential clients.

You should have put this under the "What Secrets Lurk in the Filecards?" thread. Those guys love mulling over this kind of stuff!

I have no productive contributions for this thread, but I'm definitely interested in what those smarter than I am would have to say about all of this. I've always been a big fan of Firefly.

yeah but i didnt think it was really think it was file card related but i guess it could be now that i really think about it. the only files card stuff i referenced was his "job". i really didnt read every file card. just assumed the koga ninja stuff wasnt in there and the logo was just a random thought.

totally forgot about that figure since the whole thing was poop. i think i opened it, looked at it for 10 minutes, and put him in the display.
i wonder if this logo could be officially considered his or if this would be a logo for any cobra contractor like major bludd and etc. or for members who dont already have thier own logo like destro and the noks? |

One thing I always found confusing about Firefly's origin is his true ethnicity. It was explained in the Marvel run that Firefly was the son of a plantation owner and anti-Japanese guerrilla fighter in French Indochina. His father saves the life of a Japanese soldier who happens to be the son of the Grand Master of the Koga Ninja Clan. When Firefly's father is killed, he is taken in and adopted by the Koga Ninja Clan.
Looking at the few pictures available of Firefly without a mask, his face doesn't quite reflect what he really is. What I want to know is Firefly supposed to be French, Vietnamese, or perhaps a combination of both? Besides Vietnam, French Indochina also included what is now Cambodia and Laos, so could he possibly be Cambodian or maybe Laotian?
