For years I always thought Flint was just a bigshot military officer who was given warrants for super criminals like he was a super bounty hunter who kept having feuds with Destro. That and being held back by Duke

I assumed Flint was the officer in charge of the 80's band WARRANT.
Okay, no, I didn't...they weren't known in 1985. It's funny, GI JOE introduced us to a lot of things we never heard of before. I did have to have someone explain what the word "elite" meant in regards to "Cobra Elite Trooper". That was just last week. Har-har. |

He could have easily dumbed the file cards down to make them sound more kid-friendly. But he went the exact opposite route, using language and vocabulary that a seven or eight-year old may not immediately understand or recognize, but could either get the meaning through context or ask their parents. Either way, they just learned a new word thanks to their action figures. I know there were definitely a few words I was exposed to for the first time because I read them in a Joe file card. |

Shouldn't Flint have been an officer? College graduate and Rhodes Scholar seems like he would have been highly encouraged to be an office.

You know who else struck me as being over-educated and over-qualified for his position? Tollbooth. Guy has a master's degree in engineering from freaking MIT and they got him driving the Toss 'n' Cross LOL |

Many men like the idea of being Enlisted first, and working from the bottom up. Warrant Officers are usually highly respected because he's an expert in his MOS and then some, and the Enlisted guys respect that he's been one of them and knows what he's talking about. And plus, Warrant Officers aren't as uptight. If you want to see a living GOD in military service? Go see the respect that a Marine Corps Gunner CWO5 Commands. When he speaks, guys with stars on their chest, collar, and shoulders stay quiet and listen. |

I see the Joes would have a few more Non-Aviator Warrants.
Hollow-Point, Chuckles come to mind. Not sure about Charbroil who was listed as Warrant Officer in one of his Filecard. A lot of Joes could stick around longer if they became Warrants

Heck its not just Flint that have weird screwed up job positions in G.I. Joe while they're being screwed around or held back by Duke and having to put up with ninjas everywhere.
Just saying ever since I watched the old G.I. Joe cartoon back in the day |

Coming off the Vietnam war. Flint being Special forces and his rank makes sense.
Officers and enlisted men have specific jobs within a unit. As they gain experience they get promoted and are responsible for people doing the same job. Warrant Officers will learn and know every job in his unit. |
