1992-2009, stopped for a few years, then went back either in 2013 or 2014 to the present.

I started in 1982 w/ Breaker and the Flak, started the comic w/ issue 11 and collected until 1988 when I was 12 and thought I was too old for toys. Stopped the comic around then too. Started back on the comic at issue 109 when I saw it on a newsstand (remember those?). Stayed until the end and started buying the toys again from 1997 through 2000 with the reissues then stopped the toys, but kept up with the Devils Due comics. Bought some of the 25th because I could not resist the packaging, but went back to collecting 1983-1994 in 2012 and have not looked back.

Gi Joe and tfs are right there next to Star Wars and Tmnt as my top favorite childhood cartoons and toy lines. Got out of it all by 7th-8th grade. Was over 20 years before I started collecting in 2007-2008 when I casually walked into a target and saw all those 25th joes

I was in from 82 to 88, (6 years) and came back in 2000, with the Joe vs. Cobra line. I've been collecting, as an adult, almost 3 times as long as when I was a child. I'll be collecting at least another 2 years, thanks to the club. We'll see after that.

1982-1990 as a kid.
2007-present as an adult. So yeah, I've been collecting as an adult longer than my original run, lol. I bought a few Joes here and there back in the late 90s-early 2000s but didn't really get back in until the 25th line.

I started in '83 and I wouldn't say that I ever stopped really. I just chose not to buy the shitty neon stuff. Once the line was gone, I couldn't wait for it to come back with those TRU exclusives. I was just really mad that they didn't use the v.1 Cobra Commander like they shown in Lee's or some other toy magazine.
But yeah, the years are crazy. My inner child is old enough to have an inner child of his own! |

i have faint memories of having 1 G.I.Joe doll (sorry if that term offends) as a child in the 70s. but i was 10 in 82 and me and all my friends were full on into the first wave straight armed Joes. i had a nephew that was 6 years younger than me but one of my best friends, so even through highschool i till played G.I.Joe with him when i wasnt cruising around with my friends and trying to be a band in the garage. even though i was still playing with them i wasnt really buying new joes by the late 80s because i just wasnt into the crazy bright colors and designs at that time, but was still seeing them as my nephew brought his figures over. i graduated in 90 and just about immediately became an action figure collector, not just of Joes but of all things 3 3/4". i started replacing all my beat up childhood Joes with ones in better shape, still mostly 82-86ish period. the 25th collection and modern era got me back into buying new Joes, but then it felt like no time passed at all and it switched to the movie line which never interested me, and most of the more realistic modern millitary style Joes since then havent interested me. now im uncertain if it will ever come back, much less in a way im interested in.

83-87 then blew most of it up in an epic "battle"
Bought my son a pile of Joes in 2001-2004, and replaced a few items I destroyed as a kid. Went in whole hog about 2008 when I discovered the 25th line. Been collecting modern era, ARAH (82-87) and sideshow ever since. |

I bought my last Joe in 1992 then transitioned to Robotech, Votoms, Gundam and anime in general. I also bought a few Exosquad toys as well. I mostly put my Joes behind me when I "grew up."
Then I was walking down the toy aisle in 2005 and saw Gi Joe Sigma 6. I got Sigma Strike Duke for Christmas and I was hooked. I bought a ton of Sigmas and then went into the 25th line when it came out and then started collecting some of the later ARAH line that I never heard of. I had no idea what the Retaliator was until I saw a pic and I couldn't believe how cool many of the later ARAH toys were. |

I had a loose Destro version 1 in 1985/'86 circa from a friend, but I did not know what G.I.JOEs were.
1987-1992/'93 as a kid. 2006 (ebay)-present as an adult. YO JOE from Italy!
