Yeah. Krav Maga is probably the most lethal style, but considering the cast of characters, I don't know if even Action Force has any Israeli Defense Force guys?
Although if this isn't Mortal Kombat then I guess the point would be subdue, or knock-out. Maybe the wrestlers?

Don't forget combat sambo. Some of the greatest MMA champions and most notable fighters of all time were practitioners of sambo and combat sambo: Fedor Emelianenko, Andrei Arlovski, Aleksander Emelianenko, Oleg Taktarov, Sergei Kharitonov and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

If you look at the evolution of modern MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu revolutionized the sport. When fighters were less rounded, smaller BJJ martial artists like Royce Gracie were destroying much larger, much stronger guys like Kimo and Shamrock. But once fighters learned the fundamentals of BJJ, the stronger more athletic wrestlers like Coleman and Ortiz were able to come in and dominate the sport for a short while. Yet small, cleverly skilled fighters like Sakuraba were still defeating larger opponents and he also learned how to easily neutralize the Gracies. As fighters became more well rounded, men with superior skills in a particular style such as Muay Thai, boxing, BJJ, wrestling, judo and sambo were able to compete at the highest levels. Igor Vovchanchyn was a powerful Russian boxer who won numerous 8-man or 16-man tournaments but he had a good guard, could submit guys and even wrestle. Mirko Cro Cop was an extraordinary kick-boxer who had good takedown defense and even submitted a world class wrestler like Randleman. The younger generation of Gracies proved to be more lethal as they developed striking skills. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria coupled his awesome grappling and submission techniques with boxing to become another great fighter of all time. And of course Fedor Emeilianenko could do it all and became one of the most dominant heavyweights in the sport.

So would it be better to do away with the lighter divisions and just have more fighters in the heaviest divisions?

So I was up late and saw that Discovery channel family has GIJoe on at 5:00AM. Ironically they were playing episode 21 from season 4, " Ninja Holiday" in which Sgt Slaughter competes in a martial arts tournament secretly hosted by Cobra Commander. So first off I want to say they production company / writers or whomever REALLY REALLY gave Slaughter way to much screen time and story in these later episodes, I mean here were a Navy Seal ( Wetsuit ), a Ranger ( Beachhead ), and a Marine Force Recon ( Leatherneck ) being outshines by a " wrestler " yes I know I'm gonna face the rages of the slaughter fans but I am biased as I never got on the slaughter fan wagon, so I'm sorry if I offend. Anyways in the end ole Sarge bested 6 of the worlds best fighters, as well as Wetsuit, and a number of lackeys. To win. There were two ninjas in it who captured slaughter but were not in the tourney?? No snake eyes in the joe team going to " rescue" slaughter and storm shadow had an appearance in the end mainly just to run away. Either way I just wanted to share that I found it humorous and again ironic this episode played after this thread was created. I really don't have an honest opinion as to who would win a Joe/ Cobra no holds barred MMA tourney, when it comes to a hand to hand fight, it's not always the better trained / skilled fighter who wins,....to me, it's the person, their resolve, their pain threshold, their intestinal fortitude, and just sheer savagery they are capable of in order to survive a fight.

Well, being a SeAL, Ranger or a member of any elite group is not an indication of unarmed fighting skill (even though everyone claims to instruct the Military, SWAT or FBI). It's really the last thing a SeAL is worried about, since, if it comes to a fist-fight on the ground with an opponent wielding a knife, everything has gone terribly wrong in every way.
So, if someone like Sgt. Slaughter was trained in "real" wrestling, like Catch Wrestling or Submission Wrestling, not just "rasslin", there's a very good chance he'd clean up the other Joes in a martial arts tournament. There are videos of the Gracies tapping young, fit Marines left and right. |

What we are talking about?
"Ninja Force" has the most skilled members and martial artists of the whole G.I.JOE team.

Well in edged weapon combat and ninjutsu, they're obviously the go-to guys, but in unarmed combat with MMA rules, it's hard to say. I remember when Roadblock bested Storm Shadow in combat. It didn't make sense to me at the time, but I get it now.
