That's why I used the Iron-blood example. Some comics say he's an original character, others say he's the same as CC.
To amend my last post, it appears there was a "Man of Action" doll released during the Adventure Team era who was a military character with dog tags. He did not have a beard. So if anyone was meant to retain the identity of the original Joe in the '70s line, it was Man of Action, not Adventure Team Commander. Yes, I know that ARAH Colton took the beard from the '70s Joes, but Land Adventurer shared his exact same head and many of those Joes had beards. So why assume Adventure Team Commander is Colton as opposed to Land Adventurer, who has even more military-like camo? Last edited by JediJones; 04-04-2017 at 09:42 PM.. |

He is an adventurer for sure but this particular commander, I don't know. Why did they not name him Colton?

This is why all collectors club exclusive material should be disowned. LOL.

Man of Action - Vintage3DJoes Hasbro's 1994 ARAH Joe Colton appropriately did not have a beard. G.I. Joe (v1) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive Hama decided to composite all the '60s and '70s Joes into one character, which worked well for a one-off appearance. But homaging that version of Joe Colton didn't serve the club's line well, because after their specific homage of some members of the Adventure Team, all their homages of 12" figures ended up having a beard. The original beardless Joe represented by the '60s figures and the '70s Man of Action didn't get a homage figure from the club. The club started off doing the yeoman's work of giving each classic 12" Joe character its own 3.75" homage figure, but that was the opposite of what Hama was trying to do. There's still time for the club to make it right though and homage the 1994 ARAH Joe Colton and other 3.75" 1994 commemorative collection Joe homages. To be fair, beard or not shouldn't be a criteria. How many ARAH joes have changed facial hair (or even hair colours) between versions (Mercer, Lowlight, Hawk, etc).
Man of Action seems to make sense in the Adventure Team as Colton, but at this point its all of us going on opinions rather than intention. I think the main reason most lean towards Colton being the Adventure Team Commander rather than just the land adventurer is because he's always been depicted as an officer with a long history of leadership experience in both Marvel and DDP (Has he appeared in IDW? I Don't think so...). So it made sense for him to hold a similar position there. |

I thought they were the same, just to weigh in on it. Why I avoided nominating him.

If it weren't for the particularly different details of his bio, I'd say he's probably Colton, but as is he'll remain eligible.
