I already declined another user from purchasing them, just because I don't want to perpetuate the circulation of these... But, I did lose a lot of money, so getting a little of it back is sounding better and better. =D Toss me a PM and we'll talk. Thanks! -Zartan- |

I really am having a hard time understanding your issue with these, and the need you felt to start a second thread re-hashing the information. The only problem as I see it, is if the seller sold these as original or continues to do so.
If he did but didn't know any better, then get your money back and return the parts. If he didn't then it's on you for not checking it out further before buying. Either way, right now your sitting on a bunch of 1982 COBRA Soldiers that you got for real cheap, that look like new and are nice and clean. What's really to be pissy about, unless your a speculator? If he's still selling them that cheap, then tell me his ID. I have a complete US collection, and wouldn't mind a couple of knock-offs just for the novelty. |

how are these knock-offs done. i don't get it. the cobra sigil looks perfect and aside from the rivet reversal, i see no major difference. did this guy cast these parts and assemble them? bootlegging cobra troopers? if you can do that, why not other joes, hardtop, mickey mouse cc, create a cobra, i could go on and on.

What size rivets are used?
I don't want to sell them. I'd like to recreate some arms to increase my collection.

If he's still selling them that cheap, then tell me his ID. I have a complete US collection, and wouldn't mind a couple of knock-offs just for the novelty. I think you may want to carefully read what I had posted in the "re-hash," I have his old ID and new ID posted in the new thread as well as any pertinent information that might help someone in the future identify something like this. My main purpose of all of this is to help prevent anyone else going through a similar scam because initially I was unaware of these bootleg's existence. The focus shifted from seeking the assistance of other collectors in ascertaining whether they were indeed bootlegs to creating awareness about potential scams and related thoughts. As for the seller, no. He knew, and he's done this many times to numerous others. Also, of course I tried to get my money back through all means at my disposal, none of them worked. The bank couldn't help, paypal couldn't help because the auction was outside eBay, and the seller doesn't respond to any attempts at contact, (fake phone number, a P.O. Box for an address, and many miles between us to boot). SURE, hindsight is always 20/20, and yes, it's my fault I wasn't abreast on this issue before I purchased them, even though I probably wouldn't be able to discern they were bootlegs from his photographs I would have at least been more suspicious. But, I don't exactly need you to point this out for me. After all, one tends to feel like a jackass already when they discover they've been tricked, then naturally follow the cascade of "what if" or "what could I have done different" in an effort to avoid the issue initially. Like I said, 20/20. So why was I upset ("pissed")? Because I purchased bootlegs that I believed to be real. Sure, they still look great and I've resigned myself to just having a cool army that happen to be fake. I don't know what you mean by speculator, but if you're suggesting I'm trying to make money off of these then allow me to correct the assumption, no. I have no intention of trying to make money. That doesn't necessarily mean I would be opposed to relinquishing a few of them to some collectors interested in them for their peculiar nature, as long as they're for a personal collection. Anyway if that is what you were suggesting, no, if my initial intention was to sell them I would have simply say so. I hope this clears up any misconception you in particular or anyone else may have had. After all, I merely wanted to share my story, and if that story can help out even one fellow collector, then it was worth it. I would hope you can appreciate that fact. Take care. -Zartan- |
