[QUOTE=Cobra Agent 66;5001095](who can forget finding the 1984 SE on the pegs as a kid), QUOTE]
Yeah that was one of THE highlights of collecting as a kid for me too, and probably a lot of kids. The Rogues Gallery of the '84 line up makes it my favorite wave ever. In any other year Scrap Iron, Copperhead, and Wild Weasel would have been all stars. I'll never forget the kind man who hooked up me and my brother with 2 that he kept behind the counter of his small, family run 5 and Dime. That store is gone now and I hope it all worked out for that fellow and his family. Storm Shadow is the most requested figure to see by non-toy collecting adults when they come to visit. I recall a the more traditional looking ninja brought a lot of newbies into the line. At my little brother's friend's Burger King Kid Birthday (yeah back in the 80s THAT was they cool thing to do-not the we could ever afford that)Mikey had gotten a Storm Shadow months before I got mine. I remember pleading to my mother, "How does HE get a Storm Shadow, he doesn't even know who he is!" I was crushed and very envious that day. Good times, noodle salad. Apologies for the second post- this thread is really a 1 post kind of thread but I had to reply to CA66's similar feelings.

Wasn't Storm Shadow available for three years at retail? The figure may simply be more common than v2 SE.

He may have been after the fact but what 9 year old is going to wait until they are 12 to get him. In 1984 he would have been the hardest figure to get, I recall Fire Fly and Ripcord being difficult as well but not as much.

Yes, I got a replacement SS in 86 with a gray file card. But I think that was the ONLY time I saw him on the pegs in 86 and I was shocked to see it.
There was no reason to give this poll an end date. Now I can't vote. Last edited by JediJones; 01-15-2017 at 04:12 PM.. |

I never even got to see a Storm Shadow on the pegs until v2. The same goes for Snake Eyes my very 1st time seeing him was the 89 v3 I was out with my Aunt looking for my bday gift I think it was Zayres or something. They had him Slaughters BBQ, Spirit and a few others I wanted. But my Aunt said only pick one thing so I picked up the pyhthon Conquest. My brother offered to carry the Conquest while my Aunt continued shopping, and I tried to convince her to get me a figure as well. Anyway when we got back to her house I immediately ripped open the conquest to assemble it and my bro had stuffed the box with 5 or 6 figures he had stolen. Now this was surprising becuase my bro is 5 years older and even though he was a delinquent at the time he didn't tend to go out of his way for me.

Storm Shadow is, was, and always will be the definitive ninja to me. He was born into the clan, Snake Eyes joined as an adult. Storm Shadow always had the killer instinct too, which a ninja needs. Even if it's just to kill squirrels. Snake Eyes was too much of a softie for that. Plus Snake Eyes uses as an uzi as his primary weapon. Storm Shadow stuck with swords and bows for the most part.
