Mine would have to be when I got the WHALE and the Rattler for Christmas in 1984. A very close second was getting the Tomahawk 2 years later.

I think there just may be a correlation between being a poor kid & collecting toys as an adult. Anyone else picking up on this? Not saying it's a 100% thing, but it does seem that kids who couldn't have every toy they desired often grow up to be toy-collecting adults. Like, now that we can afford it, we're gonna buy every goddamned thing we always wanted.
Now that I am able, I bought damn near every thing from 1982 to 1990... almost like I'm making up for lost time... wanting those things for so long and now being able to possess them. Perhaps it closure? I'm sure there's some fancy term for it.

True for me. In 1984 my parents had just opened, then in a few short months lost their business, we were SUPER BROKE poor. So my neighbors got almost all the 1984 line for Christmas, Whale, Zartan and almost all the figures to date, etc... I the ONLY thing I got that Christmas was Mutt and Junkyard. Kids can be cruel and they let me know how much better they had it. Returning from winter break at school was a challenge too, everyone had to tell the class what they got for Christmas and I remember being laughed at when it was my turn.

Perhaps it closure? I'm sure there's some fancy term for it. Closure? Maybe. Maybe just enjoying the figures still. |
