Let me explain why...
I love the ARAH box & card art. I've been wondering for awhile now which figures where featured the most. Some pics are hard to tell so I was hoping for some insight from a couple box owners as to who was really on there. I ran into a few snags... * Hard to tell the difference at times between Flash & GS in the art, as well as Hawk, Grunt or regular greenshirt (see: APC) * Some pics are really small. I never would have guess SE manning the Thunderclap! Most you can figure out by the release dates and what figures were released at the same time, but still... I had some time and wanted to do it out of curiosity. I focused mainly on 82 - 89. I didn't count some more than once (i.e. battle backpacks) but did count repaints (i.e. Tiger Force). Cobra Troopers/Officers are considered "Blueshirts" to me. |

This is all I could get. Remember to check what year the vehicle came out. Typically the characters shown on the box are only from that year (Sometimes the year before like Sgt. Slaughter being on the MCC)
* Who is firing the guns on the Crossfire box? Looks like Falcon * Who else is in Skystriker with Ace? He has Airborne's helmet on * Who is in the bubble of the Vector Jet? Perhaps Law? (Red short Sleeves) * Who is flying the Night Boomer? Looks like Night Force Charbroil's helmet * Besides Stalker & Rock & Roll, who is manning the Thunderclap? Backblast (next to RnR) Recoil (next to the cannon) Downtown (on the opposite end as RnR) Snake-Eyes? (Possibly next to Downtown) * I need someone to confirm who is featured on the 83 HQ... From Left to right: Airborne, Wild Bill, Clutch, Flash (Gloves look brown, not black), Doc, Rock N Roll, Gung-Ho, Breaker, Snake-Eyes, Stalker, Grunt, Scarlett, Short-Fuse The 83 HQ is the only one I can definately confirm since I have the box in front of me |

As for Zap and Grunt. Grunt is to the left of Scarlett (You can tell by the type of suspenders) The last guy is Short-Fuse (Again, suspenders and he has a visor) These details may not be noticable on the image on that site |

Unfortunately, that picture has the Dragonfly with Airborne and Wild Bill cut off from the Left side

Well, based off the information so far, the breakdown of ARAH Joe/Cobra characters used on the box art is pretty interesting.
(t) = tie Top Joe Art from 1982 - 1989: 1. Rock & Roll (t) - 8 appearances 1. Bazooka 3. Gung-Ho (t) - 7 appearances 3. Recondo 3. Spearhead 6. Greenshirts (t) - 6 appearances 6. Dusty 6. Falcon 6. Hardball 10. Snake Eyes (t) - 5 appearances 10. Roadblock 10. Outback 10. Crazylegs 10. Repeater 10. Lightfoot * Torpedo & Ripcord were never featured ** Zap, Scarlet, Doc, Lady Jaye, Quick Kick & Beach Head = Favorite Joes that only have 1 appearance Top Cobra Art from 1982 - 1989: 1. Blueshirts - 14 appearances 2. CGs (t) - 6 appearances 2. Viper 4. Cobra Commander (t) - 5 appearances 4. Destro 6. Storm Shadow (t) - 4 appearances 6. Torch 6. Buzzer 6. Tele-viper 6. Monkeywrench 6. Techno-viper 6. Toxo-viper 6. Alley-viper * Major Bludd & Snow Serpent were never featured ** Zartan, Scrap Iron, Baroness, Tomax & Xamot = Favorite Cobras that only have 1 appearance Interesting Fact: There were only 4 instances where the art showed the enemy personnel: * Falcon Glider (shows the Viper glider w/pilot) * Viper Glider (shows the Falcon glider w/Grunt) * Terror Drome (shows a captured Dial-Tone) * MCC (shows a captured Combra Commander) Last edited by Outbackk; 06-04-2009 at 01:17 PM.. |

It's not him.
Big Boa wasn't out yet in that series. He came a year later in the 1987 line.

CAPT. BOB MORRIS
This excerpt is from August 16 2000..but Capt Bob is still alive. "Born and raised on 93rd St. in New York City, Morris studied at Groton and Yale, where he achieved a B.A. in history in 1955. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served until 1967, rising to the rank of captain. He became vehemently opposed to the Vietnam War, however, and on leaving the service dedicated the next six years of his life to campaigning for peace. Morris founded radio station KMTN in 1974 and nurtured it for 14 years. In 1988 he sold the broadcast license but retained ownership of the equipment. The station pays him rent, a portion of which is free ad time. Morris’ booming voice has appeared over the airwaves 365 days a year for the past 12 years." |
