So we keep hearing people saying that the spring-loaded missiles was "the death of the line".
That's impossible, because the line never died. There has been 3-3/4" product being produced (it may not have been on the shelves, but it was being made) from 1982 to 2009+. Only 1995, 1996 and 1999 didn't have 3-3/4" G.I. Joe product being produced. Now it may not have been much being produced, but there was still product being made. So the line never died. It had highs and lows, but it never died.

Man, I figured this would have generated some good discussion.

I agree. GI Joe is the one line that is a constant in the toy world. If no Joes hit the shelves in any given year, I would bet at least 20 knock-offs appear in their place!

lol. Tumbleweeds.
But I agree, the line has seen slow momments, but has never "died". G.I.Joe is obviously still a viable brand. It may not be Star Wars or Transformers, but I think that over the years it has proven to have legs.

More stuff was produced a year during Spytroops/VvV then during the "heyday".

I wonder if there are any former employees of Hasbro on the tank that worked with GI JOE from 1993 and on up I have some strange figures with no accessories sealed in a bag from 1993 and 1994 they are figures that where released in 1992 maybe they are give away or door prizes

Hopefully the movie will revive it to an even greater level. 25th Anniversary did great. I remember a few years ago Toyfare called ARAH the greatest toy line of all time. I completely agree!

For alot of those years there wasn't any new product. And the line was pretty much dead. Hasbro wasn't doing anything with it. Crappy repaints, that were in limited production was by no means keeping the line alive or generating any kind of renewed interest.
