Since 2003 when that dvd set with Snake Eyes came out, I have watched the Mass Device every Thanksgiving evening. The first time I saw it way back in 1983 was on Thanksgiving night at my Grand Parents. I remember not wanting to leave, it was only about half way through the movie. It was at the part where Scarlett got captured by Destro. I thought for sure by the time we got home it would be over. I guess they reran it, when we got home, about a two hour drive, it was on again and just starting the volcano part. By some miracle I didn't miss anything.
I should say I try to watch it, only a few times I've made it all the way through it. Most of the time the turkey gets the better of me and I fall asleep before I finish watching it. If I am home on Christmas eve I watch the Revenge of Cobra, same thing as with the Mass Device. First time I saw it was Christmas eve night at my Grand Parents in 1984. Although that time I got to watch the whole movie before we left. I remember laying in the floor with some of my presents along with my cousins, all of us were glued to the tv. I do so miss those old days, having the whole family together at the holidays. There must have been twenty or so of us there every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now though some of us have died off, most have moved too far away to make the drive back every year. Only a few come back for the holidays now. So watching those old GIJoe cartoons helps bring back some great memories. |

My tradition is setting up the Flagg on the 23rd and displaying that year's Joes I buy for myself. Traditions somehow change, and so does the holiday family concept. my kids are in their mid to late 20's and our new tradition is playing the Munchkins card game with whoever is here. Do what makes you happy, and share that with anyone who shows interest.
