I think more often than not, the people who want to blame movies, TV shows, video games, toys, or whatever for their kids being monsters are just crappy parents who don't want to take the time to raise their children properly so they make it society's responsibility to do their job for them.
I'm no Dr. Spock, but it seems to me a parent who doesn't take the time to explain the difference between make believe and reality to their children will do far more damage than an action figure, a toy gun, or an episode of a cartoon. |

There are no heroes without conflict. Little boys instinctively understand that. Who doesn't want their kid to grow up and be a hero?

But if we just disband the military and get rid of guns the whole world will hold hands and love each other forever...

I always get a kick out of the super hero, and to a lesser extent the SW folks, who get on their high horse about gun violence. So super powered humans and aliens who crush people with super strength or people who get incinerated by a ray gun are less violent deaths than being shot with a high velocity piece of lead?

Make G.I. Joe great again!
There is definitely a knee-jerk anti-gun sentiment out there. It's not about the violence. It's all about the guns. Post-Columbine effect? There's also a little bit of something in some moms who are "afraid" their kids will grow up and join the military. |

I remember reading a story about a woman who got irritated with her son's toys all being violent. she gave him some nuts and bolts to play with or something similar. When she came back, she discovered the son was using the nuts as a brave, noble force battling the evil bolts.
kids play 'war' with anything they want if they want. maybe Joe worked? i also joined the army, and let my kid play with toys guns (only star wars so far, but he's only two). - Last edited by lsyd; 11-19-2016 at 10:54 PM.. |
