Work on your reading comprehension please because there's only so many times I should have to repeat myself. Stop asking me to repeat myself if you don't want the discussion to continue.

Still having trouble with that reading comprehension, eh?
There is absolutely no such thing as objectively deciding who's "greatest" other than possibly factoring in number of appearances. But that's not why we have a poll at all. If we could objectively decide the winners, we would simply ask people to count up the number of appearances, or whatever other "objective" criteria there could be, and list that out instead of having a poll. Having a poll is done SOLELY to solicit OPINIONS from people. The ONLY criteria anyone should use is who they LIKE. |

My reading comprehension is fine, as is my math, so I should have no trouble subtracting your nominations and not counting them from here on out. But feel free to contribute to other threads where people are more literate.

I said "I'm not debating CAC's eligibility" and you replied asking why are people still debating his eligibility. Hence the "reading comprehension" issue.
You've been saying not as many people are contributing to the poll as before, and now you want to ban one of the most consistent contributors? I would never ban any forum member from participating in my poll no matter what disagreement we had. The integrity of the poll should be put above any personal issues. I have no personal issue with you, period. I made a totally relevant comment based on you ignoring what I wrote. Last edited by JediJones; 08-07-2016 at 06:19 PM.. |

Stop derailing the thread and stop insulting my intelligence and I might reconsider my decision. I've grown tired of the arguments, bickering, and backhanded comments. When I took over the polls, I decided I had two responsibilities: 1) to get the polls up in a timely, organized manner and 2) enforce the current rules as fairly as I could.
You seem to have an issue with everyone's opinion. I try to be considerate and fair. I try to listen to people's points and make decisions based on them. Not everyone is going to agree. But I've done the best I can. And I even decided if a big controversy arose then we'd vote on it, yet even you initially seemed to have a problem with that. I also made it clear I didn't want debates in this thread anymore. My question was a rhetorical response to Zarana's post. I don't believe I asked you anything other than to take your discussion elsewhere. People can use the survey thread for that if they like, but this nonsense has gone on long enough. Be polite, be considerate, be a team player like everyone else, and maybe I'll reconsider whether to count your nominations. Otherwise I'm not interested in your participation. |

I believe in open debate. The democratic process is empty without it. The next poll was an example of a boring thread with no discussion nor debate on the merits of various characters. That's not the kind of environment that should be encouraged. I don't understand why anyone would not enjoy a robust discussion and debate where different points-of-view clash out in the open and everyone is free to voice their own opinion and make their own decision. Far from derailing the thread, that's what makes it lively and interesting.
I don't have any more issues with anyone's opinions than some people have with mine. I welcome all allies to my side and have no problem facing my opponents. I welcome that disagreement and discussion. Of course it should remain civil and not personal. I agree I should have been more polite in some of those posts so I apologize for that. As I said, by no means was I questioning any character's eligibility, I was merely saying I don't favor nominating that character just like Lifeline has said many times he doesn't favor nominating troopers in the poll because he doesn't see them as characters. We are well aware of Lifeline's opinions on troopers because he's voiced it so often. And I find nothing wrong with anyone doing that. There's a big difference between that and challenging the rules of the poll. I understand not wanting to debate a rule that has been decided upon already and I had no intention of challenging that rule any more than Lifeline has ever demanded that troopers be ruled ineligible. |

There is a fine line between polite respectful discussion, which I encourage, and inflammatory arguing, which I do not. Either way, lengthy debates belong in a side thread. You may find it boring but others have pm'd me about the distractions and the repeated thread derailing that ensues, so I want the debates limited or contained in another thread.
I appreciate and accept your apology, which is all I wanted to hear. But I do want to be clear about something because I'm not going to go back and forth on this: please keep it civil, polite, and let's refrain from lengthy arguments in the poll thread. If something really controversial comes up, people can bring it up in the polls but passionate in-depth discussions should be taken to the survey thread or another "debate" thread, but personal jabs and similar insulting remarks are not going to be permitted. That last point is the most important one. Feel free to post nominations in the next poll. |
