....lol its gonna take a lot of left pedal trim to hold her straight while firing that I imagine. Real Cobra pilots have to do that to shoot the 30mm on a real one.

I didn't. There's precedent for putting a recoilless rifle on a bike (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespa_150_TAP) - although that was a 75mm one, but that gun/gunner placement on the cycle . . . well, the back blast would leave the gunner doing a good Ghost Rider impression for a couple of seconds!

What kind of recoil would a 20mm gatling gun produce? The RAM is listed with that armament with a 3 barreled version currently being used on the AH-1 SuperCobra. Would it require some type of dampening system or gyroscopic stabilizer to keep the bike from flipping after firing off a burst?

How feasible is it for the HAL to exist in today's US military? DARPA is currently working on the High Energy Liquid Laser Area Defense System, which is planned for use against missiles, rockets, artillery shells and other projectile based weapons. Initially the weapon was called the HEL weapon (High Energy Laser), but that is where the similarity ends as the current configuration requires it to be mounted on a Naval destroyer.

160mm? 60mm maybe. I imagine the Recoil would send the Dragonfly spinning out of control.

3-barrel @ 1500 rpm = 1300lbs/5.8kN General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems - Template The 7.62 minigun @ 3000 rpm = 150lbs Modern Firearms - M134 Minigun, which is still a lot, but a lot more manageable. Ammo storage is more realistic for the minigun too. Quote:
On the topic of the BUGG, maybe someone was riffing off the BUFF (Big Ugly Fat F***er) name given to B-52s (kind of like HAL from 2001 Space Odyssey riffed on IBM). |

I assumed the same thing with BUFF! Then a sort of play on words with Dune buggy as that would be part of its area of expertise.

I assumed that gun on the skids of the Dragonfly was more like the 30mm chain gun on the Apache.
