It wouldn't me either. It's all about the money, so if rubber was higher, that could've been a factor. We'll probably never know for sure. The people that made those decisions, to them it was just part of their daily job, most probably don't remember or care. I know I couldn't tell anyone a damn thing I did at work years ago, or hell even last week.

I recall reading somewhere that joes went from 12 inch to 3 3/4 due to the price of plastic going up.

Probably allowed them to do more realistic sculpts. Also the o-ring was the weak point of the figure after they fixed the weak thumbs.

I don't know why they wanted to kill the O-ring, but going all the back to 2002 when the original new sculpts came out they were trying to get rid of them. Those sculpts were hideous and they had to stick it out with O-rings for 5 more years.

I have no idea why Hasbro made the decision to move away from the o-ring, but as a nostalgia driven collector I would love to see them return.

The Gentle Giant large scale reproductions have "O-rings" of their own.

I do like the newer stuff alot but part of me misses the slightly smaller scale and more poseable/playable 3 3/4" joes. |

Who in this thread is going to JoeCon? This would be a great question to ask Mark Weber or that Dupriest guy.

The real answer is so collectors would have to buy every character again in a new format!
Cost, they lose the back screw and rubber o-ring but the additional articulation at the wrists, knees and ankles increases mold costs. |
