While Reading about Botcon and checking out the upcoming transformers, I saw that two characters, Optimus Primal and Cosmos, were voted into the Transformers Hall of Fame. Weird Al was voted in also, I'm sure due to the movie soundtrack. I didn't even know a transformers HOF existed, but it has actually been around for 6 years. The icons have already been voted in, as have several human contributors. It sounded like this was a hasbro supported event. Which leads to my reason for starting this thread...
Why is there no Joe HOF? I know it would be a bit harder now, with this year possibly being the last joecon and all, but why can't we as collectors come together once a year and honor the best in GI Joe's long history? Even if we can't physically meet, why can't the Joe fan sites briefly unite once a year to recognize GI Joe contributors? It might be a pipe dream, but maybe something like that would also let hasbro see that there are real fans of GI Joe who still care about the brand and who want to see it represented and recognized one way or another...

I don't want to make this another of the "greatest gi Joe of all time" polls like I started a couple of years ago. I think it would be awesome if we could pull together other Joe fans sites too and make a legitimate HOF presentation at possibly the last joecon ever (even though I can't make it myself this year.)
I don't know if any of hisstank's mods can reach out to other fansite administrators to make this a project that includes as many Joe fans as possible or if the tank's administrators could put a link on the homepage to a HOF page if this project becomes active, but I really think it would be an awesome statement to Hasbro (not that they'd care) and Joe-brand doubters everywhere if the true joe fans could not just keep Joe alive, but in at least one facet, make it grow.

I like the idea, but maybe this ought to be two polls; one for characters and one for people who contributed to the success of G.I. Joe.
We can at least recommend nominees at this level. Then, the most nominated can head to a poll. I'd like to nominate Sam Petrucci, Ron Rudat, Gary Goggles and Grunt. |
