So, I have this crazy notion, of eventually making it to a convention, and having a static display. And with the display their would be one of the most iconic Joe vehicle I would display. Now I have given this a lot of thought as of recently. And I have always thought that the Hummer would be the basis for the Vamp. But after many hours and many hours of looking it over, the Vamp looks like nothing more then a militarized and beefed up version of the Isuzu 4x4 Amigo. But I could be wrong on this, tell me what you all think.

the vamp was based on a two seat version of the rear engine Lamborghini cheetah. Love the vamp.

I am becoming a VAMP nut and starting to see why those of you here who focus on it do so. I am up to 5 Jos side Vamps, 2 2th, 2 DADT painted to look like the 88 mail away, and a vintage. Cobra side I have a 25th Stinger, two DADT with cobra stickers to make Rattler 4x4s f4om them. I plan on adding one or two DADT on the Joe side unmodified for a night forced/ wolf squad versions and another DADT with Stinger stickers as soon as I can. I consider getting the Indian ones in fire truck red an police blue all the time, would kely still want more. When I get my collection like I want it I will still likely pick up any variant of the classic Vamp they release. Love Vamps

Yeah, I've always loved the Vamp and the fact that it was based on a batshit crazy Lambo. G.I. Joe needs to get back to that kind of thinking. Not basing vehicles and weaponry on established vehicles, but on crazy concept type stuff instead. The Hummer is dead, I never want to see another vehicle based on anything like that. They need to make the Vamp based on something unique. I kind of like this for a new look:

yeah, I could see why you might think the VAMP was based on the hummer. Still, I think the NCC/Vamp Mark II looks more like the M-ATV.
And yes, the hummer is sort of dead. The real world US military has some cool stuff worth turning into "toys", dune buggies, MRAPs and stuff that looks high tec. |

I do like that pic above though. Hopefully, the proposed GIJCC Dreadnok Vamp will be a POC Vamp repaint, and not a 25th VAMP repaint. They used if before with the Zombie hunting 4x4.

Very cool replies, and no I didn't realize it was based on a Lamborghini concept vehicle. Very, very cool. But I doubt that in all seriousness I would be able to find one for sale, even if I won the lotto. But a Amigo on the other hand, there are still tons of those around, still reasonably priced. If I did win the lotto I am sure I could have some prop vehicle company convert a amigo to look close enough to the VAMP lol.

Does anyone know if the Cheetah was ever cart-ed through NHSTA? If not then it would be a red tape nightmare to import and convert one even under small run custom car rules, furthermore are they even left hand drive?
Edit: just found out Hunter S Thompson actually owned one of these... how cool is that? Last edited by WarinThefloor; 02-23-2016 at 02:48 PM.. |
