I enjoy that scale of modeling as it allows me to become a better painter but preprinted figures are good too.

I had an idea for a table top wargame. I was reading the comic book story about the attack on Cobra Island where the Joes align with Serpentor and you have Destro as a powerful free agent, not to mention Cobra Commander running around willy nilly with the grape soda sucking drednoks. It's when Baroness is strapped to the front of Serpentor's hiss tank. There are a lot of mission possibilities in this story line.

Why make miniatures when we have so many perfectly good action figures laying around? 1:18 scale wargaming could be a thing.

Not really unless the game is based solely on squad-based close-quarters battles. Otherwise the "game boards" would be too large to be practical and terrain and vehicles would be right out.

I prefer smaller games like Necromunda or Heroclix. I've played lots of 40k, and I was never a big fan of the huge battles that took hours to resolve. My friends and I preferred to pitch battles at the 1200 point level. White Dwarf was always trying to push these epic 2000+ point battles and I never really understood how people enjoyed it. (Probably a marketing move more than anything else.) Anyway, that's how I would see a GI Joe game... Like, maybe eight figures per side and one or two vehicles thrown in. The thing about GI Joe is very few of them are "generic" soldier figures. Cobra has lots of faceless mooks, but most Joes are unique individuals. The idea of organizing them into large squads of identical soldiers would take away that individuality and doesn't really appeal to me. |

Made a set of rules for action figures awhile back.

Just imagine what a 1/18 game board would look like with custom dios as props and the snowcat sitting on a giant square and the WHALE on another. It would take up an auditorium. I wonder what movement rules would be for the Flagg? ;-)
