Would no amount of manipulation help re-seat the knife where it needs to be?

That story is crushing. I'm very sorry for the loss, but more sorry that an item that had such a personal connection got violated like that. I agree with most posts on here that I don't trust sending things to AFA. I don't buy graded things. I don't agree with many of the grades I see on some items. It's a service that profits off of "expertly" critiquing your personal collection. And this was just wrong.
Even if they didn't know what the figure was, even if they were confused that it wasn't on a normal card, why in the world would they ever take it out of a package? So very sorry. |

You still have a great memory of when you found the figure, so just try to focus on that. You could always have it re-sealed on another bubble. You'd just have to pretend that it never happened. Kind of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" it out of your head. Or, my best bit of advice would be to make an incredible display for the figure yourself. Get one of those big cobra throne chairs and paint it gold and put it up on a podium, surrounded by red curtains, some Crimson Guardsmen and encase it in a plastic box as if it were on display in a museum.

This may make me look like a complete dummy, but without having the item in hand to see, could something like this help? Put pressure on the front around the bubble while simultaneously pushing on the back to try and get the inner tray to seat against the inside of the bubble like it's supposed to.
You were wanting it inside a plexi case in the first place. I'm sure either a 3d printer or someone with a CNC machine that can work with plexi could put a "harness" together for you to display inside a plexi case. That could hold the item in place in the way I suggest in the picture. My quick and dirty Illustrator diagram:

I agree and disagree. You shouldn?t need it nowadays as people take care of newer items. For baseball cards, it?s a huge factor. Who wants a 7 grade gretzky rookie when you can get a 10 grade.

Man, who'd a' thunk that money-grubbing geeks who decided to make themselves an authority on something couldn't be trusted?

Yup, the AFA are not your friends.
The guys who created the AFA basically do it in every industry. They set up an "authority" who grades **Insert Item*** creates a bubble, then scams money out of people like crypto and then sells the authority company and go somewhere else to recreate another bubble. They were currently in the process of trying to do it to video games, but they got caught by Karl Jobst of all people. Necroing thread Spam Bots.
