Has anyone ever thought out what tier levels your airborne/maritime vehicles & it's dedicated operators come under? Whether it's troop transport or individual/solo mission oriented.
For instance rotary-wing i.e. helicopter resources. Hasbro developers overloaded G.I. JOE forces with more than adequate helo assets. Cobra severely lacked in this dept. I recall the Mamba w/ Gyro-Viper (Cobra's only dedicated helo pilot) which is a badass attack chopper which I equate to an Apache; the open cockpit FANG series & the Crimson version of the SpyTroops Wildfire (downright ugly). Hasbro truly dropped the ball for NEVER making a Cobra troop transport helo or just expanding on this airborne resource. Either way... ST-6/DELTA/Rangers have a dedicated helicopter Tier-1 asset known as the 160th SPECOPS Aviation Regiment (SOAR). How would you equate that to Cobra? Eels have Morays/Lampreys (maritime). But Cobra really can't conduct mass helo ops. Your thoughts... Please...

it's Aviation, not Airborne.
They have troop carrier choppers in the comics, so they have troop carriers as far as I'm concerned. |

Yeah I know that... But I'm speaking of the toyline. How would you break it down across the board.

Yeah those Carriers from the COmics would be the bee's knees if ever produced. I assume instead of Gyro-Vipers or the Heli-Vipers they would use the Air Trooper v2 from the Renegades Black Dragons as the pilots. They need a different code name though. Heli-Vipers would be perfect.
Cobra Air Trooper (v2) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive I think the Black Dragons from Renegades and the Gunship from ROC are meant to be troop carriers. THe Toys are just undersized. Generally I would say CObra Vehicles aren't so much solo missions as much as small unit tactics but everyone is armed to the teeth, with the FANGS V1 or V2 or V3, CLAWS, JET PACKS, Trouble Bubbles,. I don't think we've ever seen as mass deploy by sea. I think this is why they have the PAra-Vipers.

The Moray is the only thing for Maritime, although the new water moccassin have a few more pegs on them. The Parasite and the APC transport would be the Ground options for Cobra. Might include the HISS II as it holds 6 troops inside. (My favorite Cobra Vehicle of all)

The Crimson Commnd Copter can hold just as many figures as the Eaglehawk, and has more firepower. A modern era update would be nice.

Maybe but the CCC looks more like an fast-attack chopper instead of a transport vehicle. I'm thinking more like the Toma/Eaglehawk or the below. A Cobra "Osprey" CV-22 would be awesome.

In ROC, Cobra had the Razor gunship which was very poorly translated into a toy.

Crimson Command Copter was really just one helicopter, a stolen GI JOE one, IIRC. I suppose Cobra could've copied it, though.
Heli-Viper are also helicopter pilots, even if they are tacky kitbashed guys who pilot death trap Battle Copters. We needed a Cobra Eaglehawk(tomahawk) repaint more than a Cobra Skystriker. Maybe next year. |
