my dad registered my account so im just a kid I see what your saying but honestly no kids my day do not like crossovers maybe collectors do but me and my friends like gijoe because its classic good toys and we love to create battles do little stories also I saw one of you guys mentioning prices my parents like low prices but I love the classic 80s articulation not my day modern or 12 inch scale clothes remove stuff no 5 point articulation for me just good old gijoe and no gijoe does not need to team up with mask to stop cobra all they need is some good old battles with cobra like in the 80s movie where they invade cobra la headquarters.

That is one awesome Ace McCloud! Outstanding job! Do you plan to make a Max Ray and Jake Rockwell also?

I can't claim credit, This is by another tank member, it's his custom, I just wanted to show that there's crossover potential and the parts are readily available. Using his recipe I'm making several Centurions, All led by MIKE POWER, they will be called in for "Extreme" Missions "think Mission Impossible".....And their Battlecry is "POWER EXTREME".....The Centurions are the Next Gen Adventure Team....Land, Sea, and Air......The same can be done with existing parts to make Sky Commanders for the Joes.....And for M.A.S.K......So many ways to bring about UNIT-E!!!!

I can't agree this is something Hasbro should do in a mass-market way. It's a niche thing and, based upon the realities of the modern toy market, a safe bet only something collectors will be interested in. It would probably be an awesome undertaking for the G.I. Joe club though.
I've noticed that the toy companies (Hasbro, in particular) have learned two facts about the current state of the action figure market: 1). the age of kids interested in action figures has plummeted 2). younger kids apparently don't care enough about articulation to justify the added cost. Parents are obviously more concerned with price point than collectors and they dictate what they're buying for their kids. The parents see them as toys, which is what they are. The kids, at this young age, also see them as toys and don't seem to need more than 5 POA to have fun. The Avengers Ultron All-Star line is selling really well, and the 2.5 lines Hasbro has intro'd also seem to have done well and continue to do so. The Titan line of 12 inchers is apparently also selling. The common denominator is, of course, perceived value. Lower price points made possible by reduced production costs...size (in the case of the 2.5"), lower manufacturing complexity and reduced quality control (kids aren't nearly as picky of paint aps as we are). Add that all together and MASK is actually primed for a modern mass-market reintroduction. Not only is it a product that can be produced in 2.5" scale (or smaller) with limited articulation, but it also combines stuff kids are still interested in, namely transformation, vehicles and sci fi. I wouldn't be surprised if (and this would be smart of Hasbro) any new MASK products feature robots prominently. Maybe the vehicles transform into robots with the drivers still inside of them. Like Transformers, but with human characters operating them. It would be a Robotech/Voltron/Pacific Rim sort of deal...Anyway, I digress. Point is, MASK definitely doesn't need G.I. Joe in today's marketplace and it may just prove to be a more viable/marketable property (as a toy and not a collectable) if handled correctly. But trying to compare that to Hasbro in-house brands is like comparing oranges to rotten apples. Hasbro seems happy with making toys for other brands, and side- lining their own in-house properties, until someone else will take the risk to make them successful again, i.e. Transformers. My Little Pony being the only exception I can think of. My realistic expectation for G.I. Joe and a possible Mask spinoff is hoping that Paramount will conclude its epic search for another director to make G.I. joe 3 happen sometime this decade. And in the meanwhile accept the extra rounds of the 50th anniversary products. Last edited by stillagijoefan; 05-31-2015 at 01:52 PM.. |

We get a new brand manager, store exclusives....and I feel like Oliver saying..."Please sir....I want some more"......No, it's high time the guys in charge look at the home brands and breath new life into them, look at the Transformers brand,....Licensed through TAKARA....JOE is HASBRO'S....And yet because it's a "WAR" toy it get's put on the back burner?....I'm proposing that UNIT-E changes the dynamic and makes joe relevant in today's marketplace, through cross promoting, Not just toys but through multimedia, games, cartoons, merchandising!!!!! UNIT-E.....Needs to happen!

I grew up with the 12" G I Joes and saw the brand change from true "G I Joe" to "G I Joe Adventure Team" because of the unpopularity of the military at that time.
When G I Joe was rebooted in the 80's, it was completely different. Once again it had a strong military theme; it had a lot of characters with names; the they were small w/clothes were molded and painted on....what? You have got to be kiddin' me! They will never sell. Well, now those small Joes are the accepted norm for an entire generation. Now we are discussing what could happen next with the same skepticism as I had when I heard about the new line for the 80's. Hasbro doesn't need to focus on us...but on the kids. The next line for G I Joe will probably as foreign to us now as the small Joes were to me 30 years ago. For G I Joe to succeed for new generation, it will likely be something unrecognizable to us.
