No idea were to post this, mods help..
I'm reading that the terrordrome.com is going to closing up shop. I'm hopping it will mean a bunch of new members coming over to hisstank to discuss, buy , sell, trade g.i joe. But the chances are most terrordrome members are probly also hisstank members already. Or yojoe"ers or battline"ers.

Sign o' the times, but the shits nonetheless. It's not just that the fanbase has dwindled to the point it can't sustain multiple sites, but the message board medium has been usurped by Facebook and other interests.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Joebattlelines, Joesightings and others fold up shop too and that would be a real shame. Joesightings has long since ceased providing toy sightings and is practically dead, activity-wise, and JBL is making a valiant effort, but just doesn't have the forum activity anymore. Terrordrome rode the wave of the 25th resurgence (along with Hisstank), but places like Joebattlelines--originally Sgt. Savage Soundoff (or something like that)--Joesightings and YoJoe have been fixtures since 2000, and even before that. Hell, before YoJoe had their forums, they had "The Pit" mailing list (yep, I've been dicking with this stuff for far too long...). Anyway, everything's temporary. Sorry to see it fold. I know it hasn't been active, but it was a good place for news, during a time.

Yeah, back then you were either someone who never outgrew these toys and were super-excited to have a place to talk about it or you were trying to buy back all the shit you lost from childhood. And then 2000 brought in a relative ton of people just getting back into collecting thanks to the ARAHC reissues. 2007 and the 25th was a bit of deja vu in that regard. It's weird, in retrospect, how many of the folks from those earlier days have just up and disappeared from this hobby. Like Eugene Son (YoJoe founder) dude was the ultimate G.I. Joe fan and then, seemingly overnight, was gonzo. Has anyone even heard anything Joe-related from him in a decade?

What if he made SOOOOOO much money form starting YoJOE that he was able to buy every version of every g.i joe EVER made ( TWICE !!! ). And now has no need for other human contact ?

Anyhoo...like I said, everything's temporary, and stuff like the Terrordrome shuttering itself only serves as a reminder. As fans, we come and we go. Paul Simon had a great lyric along these lines...something like this, "I know what I know, I'll sing what I've said. We come and we go, that's the thing that I keep in the back of my head." |

So old that we're now getting nostalgic over things that were homages to our nostalgia. I find myself sometimes looking back at the Joes from the early 2000s with a nostalgia almost akin to the 80s. Especially certain items like the ARAHC stuff or the NAC. And that's--pardon my language here, but there isn't a better word for it--pretty fucked up.
