Any rethinking on Marissa Fairborne's eligibility now that they announced she'll be sold by both the Joe and TF clubs in dual Joe/TF packaging? Most likely the file card will say she's Flint and LJ's daughter, since the club definitively announced that as her origin at the panel.
Also, what about the new Stealth BAT? It's a new character in dual Joe/TF packaging sold by both clubs. If we were running both a greatest Joe poll and greatest Transformer poll, would he be eligible for one, both or neither? Of course I already think these should be eligible for both Joe and TF polls and let it be left up to the voters. |

Sorry I've been MIA - vacationing! (Highly rec taking the kids on a Disney Cruise - it was Absolutely Awesome!)
I'm going Professor Appel - He needs some love and while not as worthy as Candy, should be getting noms now I do agree with JJ that Marissa Fairborne should be eligible - leave it up to the voters Add Cobra de Aco & Wreckage

In 2005 (The supposed time of Transformers G1 cartoons) Marrissa Fairborne is a Captain. The minimum age to be commissioned in the US military is 19 years old (more commonly 21 after receiving a BA). The minimum time after commissioning as a 2nd LT to make Captain, would be about 3 years (18 months as 2nd Lt 18 months as 1st Lt). In the Air Force its 2 years for each for a minimum 4. So that would make 22 years old, be the minimum age to make captain. (More likely 25-26) 2005 - 22 = 1983. Meaning that Flint and Lady Jaye had a child before they met.... If someone can actually explain that then we can debate the point... Quote:
That said, do we actually need to rank each incarnation of the BAT separately? I know v2 is being voted for currently but aren't they all B.A.T.s? Which are already ranked. Does this mean that different viper versions need to be ranked separately as well? |

Add Super Trooper and Burnout.
Continuity errors are not something that should invalidate eligibility. They turn up in every universe. Not to mention, there are different G.I. Joe universes. The one that crosses over with Transformers could be considered a distinct one, like the different comic universes. Eligibility should be a bit simpler than having an encyclopedic knowledge of the universe and its real world references. I probably wouldn't consider each Viper and B.A.T. a different character for this poll unless the name changes. In Stealth B.A.T.'s case, the name is different. Similarly you'll see YoJoe.com use V1 and V2 if the name stays the same, but call a new figure V1 if the name changes. So Jungle B.A.T., Sky B.A.T., Headhunter B.A.T., Inferno B.A.T., Nano-B.A.T. and Arctic B.A.T. are their own distinct entries, while the 22 other B.A.T.s so far are versions of the original. Looks like a Transformer, but the name and bio comes from the Joeverse. It's at least debatable which of those is more important, but I'd say the bio is. The Jurassic Park line repainted some Joes for its line, but those would be considered Jurassic Park characters, not Joes, because the storyline and their names dictate their identity, not their toy molds. |

But the fact remains that she's part of the Autobot vs. Decepticon war despite apparent parentage. Similar to Checkpoint from COPS as someone pointed out. Quote:

The different names is a fair point. I'd still say they're no different than say "Arctic Snake Eyes" or "Desert Snake Eyes", but if people want to call them different I guess there's at least some reason to do so, even if most are simply repaints. Quote:

Well, it's the problem of a new character being introduced in a crossover story. Which universe is it part of? If it's disqualified in both polls, then it's orphaned from winning anything. It would be endlessly debatable which universe it "fits" more in. So if it's left to the voters to evaluate, we'll see in which poll it performs stronger and earns a position. They could judge themselves which universe it goes with better.
