I've just independently made some adjustments amongst the Joes because their old Sergeant-heavy command structure made no sense to me. Duke is himself a Colonel because in Joe, you can be an officer and fight on the front lines regularly. Flint as third in command is a Major.

General Hawk said the new aid includes unmanned drones to help defend allied forces and to enhance their communication there will be radios and other secure communications equipment and radars to warn and protect against mortar and artillery fire; and medical equipment. Also included in the assistance will be multi-purpose attack vehicles and ground/air defense systems.
General Hawk is asking for guidance from us, his top notched advisors, in which 10 Joes will be leading the military training and which equipment, vehicles, and defense systems should be used. The Personnel was easy, though it did flex my knowledge a little. I was on YoJoe looking at various options. This is a very good excercise!!!
However, vehicles I find to be a perplexing fill under these ROEs of "no lethal weapons" because everything in Joe is weaponized, often to an absurd level. But here is a list: everything is stripped of weapons. 1. Tomahawk for medivac, Search/Rescue, and transport purposes. It's a fast, flexible design that can transport cargo and wounded at high speeds and altitudes (for a helicopter). Locals can rig up their own door guns, but the cannon and missiles will be removed. 2. APC without the top turret. Some will be rigged up for medical transport. 3. Unarmed Radar Rats to monitor low-mid level airspace. 4. Smoke Screen transports with sound attack removed, because it's horrible. ...Desert Humvees...AWE Strikers.... Basically just a bunch of old ground vehicles and utility choppers. nothing too intricate here until the gloves come off. OP, what are the weapons the locals have? We need to know what we get to operate with? Mirages? Migs? any Armor or existing utility vehicles? What sort of artillery compliment do they have? If you wanna do this simple and easy you can just drop in a real-world country and we can source wikipedia for what their armed forces have and pretend it's fictional....

After thinking about this some more, there are more variables, like geography and the Cobra intentions. Not all Middle Eastern nations are bald desert. Some, like Oman, are mountainous, in which case you'll want guys like Alpine and Hit n Run, along with guys to train crew-served weapons specialists and snipers (so Rock n Roll, Short Fuze and Lowlight spring to mind). But if Cobra is expected to screw with urban terrorism and targeting oil infrastructure then you'll need urban ops specialists like Shockwave, and I'd want Barbecue too to provide training in dealing with fire suppression and HAZMAT response.
As for vehicles/weapons platforms, the problem with them is they need to be manned. That would chew into your 10-man training team. They also need to be maintained and resupplied, which grows your tail. Unless you want a couple of hundred mechanics, techs, bin rats, finance clerks and cooks underfoot, it's better to leave those behind and keep the footprint small. Acquire some low-vis local vehicles for transport and link in with the host nation for food, or buy off the local economy. In short, I'd turn this one back on Hawk and ask for more details before committing to a team. |

I like the premise of this post. 10 men could hardly do much in a real life FID (foreign internal defense) operations. But with just 10 I would make them higher level Joes. So many Joes are trainers as well.
1st. Steel Brigade Commander. He's a Civil Affairs officer and an Intelligence Officer. These would be critical skills to get Shit done. 2. Falcon - Green-Berets do this all day. 3. Flint - can't have too many Green Berets. 4. Gung-Ho - I like to think he's MARSOC now so similar to the Green Berets. 5. Sgt. Slaughter. 6. Beachhead 7. Hollow-Point 8. Dodger - Vehicle and electronic maintenance. 9. Hard-Drive genius computer tech and medic. 10. Salvo heavy weapons-repair If the Joes were attacking an oil platform, they should send Torpedo, Wet-Suit, and the rest of the SEALs, but for FID, they should send the Joes that are trained in FID: The Green Berets and the Raiders. Just because a Joe might be excellent at his job doesn't make him/her an excellent teacher, or an expert on language and culture. FID/training indigenous people is it's own specialty. Are SEALs good underwater commandos? You bet. Are they great at teaching foreign people how to be underwater commandos? No. No they aren't.

Falcon in charge, Dusty and perhaps another environmental specialist. Include Mercer too. No one likes him, but he has insight into how Cobra operate and thinks.
