Other. It was Eco-Warriors. Suddenly G.I. Joe was about neon colors, big launching weapons and ripping off other toy line's "trending concepts" instead of bringing new ideas to toys.
I like Cobra-La and anything zombie though. Predacon also crosses into "so bad it's good" territory. Last edited by JediJones; 02-27-2015 at 09:08 PM.. |

Joes pretty much ended for mid 1988.
I had a few select Joes from 88 and maybe 89. I remember seeing Manimals & Street Fighter on the shelves when in stores. I remember saying "those are not Joes" and I still feel that way. I'm good with Cobra La though. I'd like to see modern updates of them.

E. Honda was realllllly close, but maybe it was the Shadow Ninja Force team, or maybe it was the Stars and Stripes set, or it could have been Action Punch Duke, or maybe it was when there was a v.50 of Snake Eyes...

I have to go with Serpentor. DNA doesn't work that way.
Lots of great toys came after this mind you, but for me it was the beginning of the end. |

That's the big dividing line for me. 1991 still has a fair share of great figures but it fell off the rails around the Eco Warriors release. Then almost no figures worth a damn came out through the end of the line in 1994. Even the Cobra Troopers started getting awful. None of them other than Headhunter or Headhunter Stormtrooper are worth it during those years. Without question the majority of the figures in those years were bad, whereas that was never true in 1990 or before. The aesthetics took a nose dive in 1991.

You got me! The more I look at this group of
Monstrosities, the more I think “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” I don't want any ONE of them (except cobra la), but, I'm starting to want ALL of them together! |

And that's what I love about ARAH GI Joe, and why it is so much more than little plastic army men or a "military" brand.
