Hey, Hiss-Tankers. Nikolai Here, bringing some urgent news from the Front-Lines of the Collecting Community.
If it's not too much trouble and If the Moderators don't mind? I would like to take a moment to mention a Tragedy that befell my Local Community. It is something that I feel affects us all as Collectors in general. Collectors Kingdom, my local Comic-Book shop was ravaged by an early morning Fire about a week ago. http://7online.com/…/fire-burns-through-long-island…/465179/ The store was a long standing fixture of the Collecting Community for over 30 years here in Huntington, Long Island, New York. A true "Mom & Pop" one of a kind gem, that managed to stand tall in the face of Mega-Chain-Super-Stores. It was unique, in that while you could keep up with current Collecting Trends, with it's wide range of Comics and Collectibles. The Owner routinely brought in Collections of Vintage items from Comics to Toys to meet his customers needs and support and maintain interest in long forgotten Collectible Treasures from our Childhood. This was the type of store where you could walk in and feel at home. You could pick up your latest issue from the IDW G.I. Joe line or rummage through the back issues to complete your Marvel G.I. Joe runs. If that wasn't enough you could easily peruse the Toy section for Vintage ARAH Joes carded and loose. I've been a customer since I moved to Huntington in the 80's. Honestly, some of my fondest Joe Collecting Memories (Comics & Toys) happened thanks to Collectors Kingdom... By using a Crowd-Funding Source. Collectors Kingdom is attempting to rise from the ashes and rebuild to bring comics & Collectibles to future generations of Collectors. If you could please visit their link https://www.indiegogo.com/p…/help-rebuild-collectors-kingdom and share it amongst your friends and fellow Collectors, it would be greatly appreciated.... Thank you. P.S. Just to illustrate how cool a place this was. Check out the link to their old Commercial. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Co...e4960182dd62bc Last edited by NIKOLAI; 01-15-2015 at 06:20 AM.. |
