Well at the end of the day this is Larry's show, and we have to respect that. And most of us who are still reading it now even if we think peaked a while ago are going to stick around for the full run out of habit and loyalty to Larry and the brand.
And part of the cool thing with G.I.Joe is that there is no one continuity that is really entirely canon, and you can come up with your own Joeverse. It would suck if Larry did throw Pathfinder in an issue but didn't have his heart in making Pathfinder cool, but I guess I do feel like ARAH has lost much of its edge, and reading it feels kind of like a high school reunion at times. That said, there have been some great recent issues - the last Dr Burkhart rescue op was close to what I would love to see as far as a rebooted Special Missions book. You never really know where the stories are going to go, and it sounds like there is a major story arc coming up soon, so that will be interesting. |

I realize that, but still it would be a nod of respect to the fans who by being continual readers, have kept him going. And if he can warm up to using characters like Crystal Ball or Duke(who I think is overrated), surely the same can be for Pathfinder. Also, he said he'd never EVER do Cobra-La, and yet there's that 25th anniversary comic he published that's included with Falcon and Nemesis Enforcer(or Immortal in that case).

Out of curiosity, why do you care about Pathfinder? How do you envision him? In terms of his personality, quirks, etc. Aside from obviously being a bad ass jungle operator - I mean is he a lone wolf or a loyal team player or a natural leader? And introvert or extrovert? What makes him cool, aside from how he looks?
For example, my favorite Joe is Tunnel Rat (I like him because he looks damn cool, but I also identify with being a multiracial). I know he has gotten plenty of face time in the comic, but in my imagination he's a high-speed, above average, disciplined soldier with a lot to prove to others and especially himself. Perhaps just a little arrogant or impatient or a bit of a perfectionist? He's an extrovert - fun to hang out with, and generally popular on the team, but probably not very laid back. I see him as a short guy who maybe grew up as a bit of an outsider as a teen with a bit of a Napoleon complex. Why else would he carry a big ruck and big gun even though he doesn't really need to for his EOD specialty. I see Falcon as an old style hearts and minds special operator - intellectual with people skills and a strong competent soldier but probably not as ruthless or decisive as some of the other more hardened guys. He's good with languages, a principled leader, perhaps a little idealistic (maybe a bit of an introvert?) He's the guy you put in charge of a team trying to develop good relations with a group of wary civilians, but perhaps not the ideal person to kick down doors and kidnap or neutralize a target at home surrounded by their family. Who is Pathfinder to you? |
