All the KIA Joes from Marvel are added except Crankcase and BF 2000, (and Mangler and Cool Breeze - but they didn't have figs). Crankcase gets my vote, then back to Sparks if he can stay in the poll.

Considering how heavily favored characters from 82-87 have been I'm surprised their are so few nominations still for Red Dog and Taurus. They were a big part of the 87 movie.

If you're interested in this sort of thing, and we all should be, Crankcase's shoulder patch (different from the one pictured) is from British Airborne Forces, per this neat site: Real Military Patches Used on GI Joe Figures - JCWiki
In other news, Grid-Iron's helmet and grenades were based on a real-world sport called "American Football" which is distinct from the "Football" game that the rest of the world enjoys (whilst being famous for popularizing head injuries). Cpt. Grid-Iron's pants are also some of the first of the G.I. Joe "banana pants" series. He was followed in the banana-pants tradition by many other unpopular figures like Tracker, 1991 Grunt, and Comic Pack Roadblock. |

Crankcase seems like a glaring omission at this point in the voting. I always thought that he was more popular when I was a kid. He was one of the ones that I didn't have, and I thought the AWE Striker was an important vehicle to the Joe mythos. I also thought he was of bigger importance to people, cuz he came out pretty early on in the 25th line (granted that figure had some flaws and could stand to be updated).
I don't think that I could ever support Captain Grid Iron. He is one of the Joes that just make me cringe when I hear them. He falls into the category of Sergeant Slaughter (who had another rank and was a professional wrestler of all things...yuck!), Fridge (who I felt like should never be actually considered a Joe, and to a lesser extent Bazooka (who ran around in a friggin' Jersey) and Hardball (Ditto) and Red Dog (Ditto). Big Lob was annoying part of the movie (though strangely enough because of his prominence, I feel he is "important" and kinda want a modern figure of him). Sports tie-ins are cringe-inducing to me in the Joe universe. Don't mind Grand Slam, because of the fact that he was never really emphasized as a Baseball playin' Joe. I am annoyed because A) Captain Grid Iron is designated a Captain (something that I feel should be reserved for "Important" characters and B) Because the football aspect was so in your face. If he was just called Grid Iron, wore a helmet, and that was it, I wouldn't mind so much probably. He actually isn't that bad of a figure (minus the banana pants, I guess). I guess it is all preferences, but he is one of the Joes that just bugs me. Curiously enough, thinking of sports tie-ins, I think there should be a Dreadnok with a hockey mask and hockey stick or hockey themed Dreadnok. Some guy that got kicked out of the NHL for being such a bad boy. Call him Penalty Box or HIgh Stick or something like that... Crankcase, add Nunchuk and Taurus |

Yeah, I did think of the KAOS Trooper, but I would have preferred a named character. I don't think that there should be "generic" Dreadnoks. Just my opinion.
