That blows either way but i had insurance on my stuff when i had a storage unit years ago you might want to try the same thing . And i hate to say it but when i had important things in my storage they were in the back and not where somebody would have easy access to them it sounds like your stuff was easy to get at and ready to move i dont make it easy for someone remember its a storage place not your house i never kept anything of immediate value in there if it means that much i would keep it at home seriously if it means that much it should be at your house not in some storage locker ...

Thank you so much for the offer. I am hoping to hear back from the officer and share the information I have with him and then using the video surveillance footage and the list of goods perhaps recover these items. I am working on finding a good star wars database for compiling the information needed. Thanks again for the generosity; support; and advice everyone, Brian It sucks when things like this happen, but when others show kindness, it really helps lift you out of the cesspool that the turds of this world inhabit and spread.

Doesn't the storage facility itself have some liability? You should have a reasonable expectation that your stuff is secure. Do they not carry some type of liability insurance to cover break-ins? Sorry you are having to deal with this crap.

Not really the same thing, but my mother had a camper trailer kept at a storage place many years ago. Someone drove off with it and the owner wasn't even concerned enough to come down the stairs to talk to us about it. That was pretty much when knew never to trust storage places again. But I never really had a need for one of them anyway. Our house is not big by any means, but it is big enough for what we have. For the stuff I need to store, if it can't go in the attic it just has to go. I gave away a box spring a couple of weeks ago because it and stuff like it isn't worth the cost of storing anyway. If I ever need one again, I could get it from Craigslist for cheap.
Sorry to hear about this situation. I can't stand dirtballs that have so little respect for others and are so selfish that they choose to steal to get what they want. One thing they never seem to consider is doing that never gets them where they want to be and eventually they get caught. |

Same thing happened to me. Never trust storage places. Two things helped me in terms of storing off-site, though.
1) Complete inventory of what I had 2) Insurance One thing you can do is if you had anything still in package or on the card is to check stores around you like Walmart and Meijer to see if they were returned for gift cards. That's what happened to some of my stuff. As I did, you might walk in and see some of your collection on the shelves. |
