I notice that some of the Joes on your list are from the Transformers MUX game. If you decide it's canonical, that's cool but I thought I'd throw it out there.
Some of the IDW Joes I can see you got from the Yo Joe entry for G.I. Joe v2 # 12. There are some errors in the Yo Joe entry though. There is no Joe called Bragstack, it should be "Brass Tack". Also Iron Hound is actually "Iron Hand" Other IDW Joes are; Dolphin (Infestation # 1), Faraday (v2 #5), Kernel (Cobra v2 #12), Hot Sauce (v2 # 16), Show Time (Cobra Wars book), Tanglefoot (Special Missions #4) and Tuna (v1 #20) In IDW's Transformers / GI Joe #3, they depicted a character called "Sea Legs". It's debatable whether it referred to a new Navy character or just a generic term for Joe Naval specialists. There was also a character called "Nitro Dude" in one of the Hasbro 2-Packs, I think it was the Shockblast / Destro set There was also a character called "Windows" in an issue of Marvel's European Missions. Hope it helps Last edited by Tyroc; 10-25-2014 at 09:51 AM.. |

BARON IRONBLOOD IS NOT COBRA COMMANDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it'll be a hot day in Jotunheom before I accept that! on the subject of 'European Missions' aka Action Force Monthly, there's the Cobra weapons engineer Weaponsmith and you may want to consider chucking in Longslide and Trackmark. Longslide was a name used for Footloose in GI Joe reprints to cover him already being in the comic before they reprint the US first appearance. Trackmark is the toy range's rename of Skidmark in the UK, like Sgt. Slammer for Sgt. Slaughter. |

It'd be cool to have the source of the character listed along with the name, as there are a fair few I've not heard of.
Also, it would probably be useful to produce a tree diagram (probably as an image that one zooms in and out of), which would be easier to understand. I don't know of any software that will automatically generate one from a list, but will do some digging. |

That is a pretty substantial list. I was unaware of most of those IDW characters. I'm going to have to go back and study it more.
With the Joes I see some discrepancies in rank. I would go by the highest rank given on the file cards, but sometimes the comics go further. For example, movie Duke figure listed as O-4 on his filecard. The movie refers to him only as Captain. His original persona is First Sgt. E-8 which has gotten to E-9 for one figure. Then IDW went ahead and made him a Colonel. Personally I would identify them as two separate characters. Movie Duke (O-3) regular Duke E-9. Other E-9s: Gung-Ho, Rock'n'Roll, Mercer v2(Cecil). Then there is Stalker who is listed as E-8 on his highest filecard but might even be considered an E-9. During those lean years 1994-2002 most of the Joe figures came out with a bump in rank. The Stars and Stripes set had promotions all around.

You forgot Crimson Guard Cadet Deming from the cartoon.
Also Dreadnok Thrasher and Thunder are the same guy, just like Gnaw and Gnawgahyde. Lt. Derenko is Overlord Incision is the new code name for ousted Night Creeper leader Aleph You could add Col. Sharif if you want to include Cobra allies or sponsored groups. Oh... Also Ninja Ku and Master Sato who led the Red Ninja for a while, but I don't know if they were allied to Cobra at the time. Maybe I am going about this incorrectly. Does anyone have their own list of GI Joe and Cobra characters that I can compare my list to?
Thank you very much Tyroc for your generous help! I do appreciate it. CapBritain, thanks for your help. One of the comic series ends with Baron Ironblood changing Red Shadows, renaming it Cobra and calling himself Cobra Commander. I don't know which comic book, it is mentioned in wikipedia's article for Red Shadows. Weaponsmith is already in my list, you missed him. Thank you for all the other help. Tyroc, to be honest, I can't remember where I found "Skip", "Psychoanalyst", and "Spitfire". All of them are mentioned in the internet somewhere, but I can't remember where I found them, but they were mentioned as characters either in the comic books or some version of the cartoons. Tyroc, Skip's navy designation was used due to the fact that the original 12" toys, the navy guy is named "Skip". The Marine is named "Rocky", and the air force guy is named "Ace". Ace was already defined and so I included the other two as individual characters, but then I do remember Skip being flushed out a little more, but again don't remember where. Captain Hydra: I mentioned that some Cobras mentioned by name are not listed separately if they are just considered one of the many Cobra Troops. Cadet Deming is simply considered one of the many Crimson Guardsman. Thank you for your help. |

Do you consider some of the International variants with different file names etc as "new characters" ??? Some of the Argentinian filecards have different info and I consider them different characters. What's your take ?? |
