Who would be a more likely modern leader, Gung Ho, or Rock N Roll?
GI Joe covers a lot of time. Stalker, Tommy and Snake Eyes were in Vietnam. Using that time line, who would most likely be the general in command if they were to assemble a New Joe squad. To clarify,a I am working on a project that essentially disbands the Joes after 1993. Obviously most would be retired, some dead of old age. My question is, who would be left and the most likely successor as a new commanding officer of an all me GI Joe squad? |

Gung Ho was in command of the Mega Marine sub team.
Rock N Roll has never been in command although he certainly has seniority being a member of the o13, he also has many more comic appearances.

rock n roll. despite his codename I think rock n roll is all business.
I see gung ho getting entangled in "some sort" of sex scandal. |

Yes but rank has never really meant anything in the Joeverse(s).

I think in this situation if you absolutely had to pick between either one it just comes down to who you like the most. In a way they are sorta on equal ground cuz they both showed leadership qualities and have had high respect from their superiors in most of their characterizations.

I'd say someone like Grunt, who was a specialist in 1982, would be an all-around great squad leader but by 1993 he'd probably be an E-7 but he'd make a great recon team leader in a Ranger type unit.

Interesting question. When you say an "all me joe squad", I'm assuming you mean "Modern Era"; so, I would be looking at a low ranking officer to rise through the ranks. My first thoughts are Lt. Falcon, or Steeler. Since Steeler has been there since the beginning, I would think that he would be on the retired list. Lt. Falcon is a few years younger, so he could be a senior officer by now.

The only difference between Rock n Roll and Gung-Ho is one year. Both made E-9 about the same time so they are equivalent. Like they did with DDP and The real Delta Force there would be multiple Sgt Majors as team leaders.
If you're thinking a real timeline after 1993 most Joes above E-6 would be gone and officers over 0-6 would be gone. I'd say Lt. Col Falcon would be running the show. Probably Beachhead as your Sgt Major. Kamakura for Snake-Eyes. Helix for Scarlett. Kickstart and Nightfox. To round out an OG-13 team you would need VvsValor guys from 10 years ago. Barrel-Roll, Dart, Crosshairs, Red-Spot, Hard-drive, Long-Range and Hollow-Point.
