It is true that if you go to Hasbro's SALES website, you can do no kind of search to find G.I. Joe. The other website is interesting, but not where you go to BUY TOYS.

Sad, but then what is there left for them to sell? The only "new" stuff is repaints for Toys-R-Us exclusives and club subscription exclusives.

that blog was very melodramatic. not to mention wrong. this quote from it is inaccurate not to mention made me LOL "GIjOE is no longer listed on Hasbro’s own website. That’s a cold, hard fact fans now have to accept." In actuality Hasbro's OWN website does mention GI Joe. It took me all of 30 seconds to find it. It may not be front paged but it is there. How on earth am I gonna deal with this cold hard fact. lol *sigh* anyway, here is the link.
Shop Hasbro Toys & Board Games for Kids | Fun Toys for Girls & Boys the reason they are gone from Hasbrotoyshop is because ya know...people so wanted to spent 10 dollars plus shipping on a Retaliation Wave 1 duke. We just got a new wave in the last month at TRU and now getting a second wave. People are stressing out for no reason. +100 truthiness ***EDIT*** Plus, everyone is so surprised that Joe isn't selling/isn't around? 1. We knew that the 50th was a TRU exclusive and knew exactly what was going to be released under that banner...no surprises. 2. Why would places like HTS even want to carry stock when we as consumers have gotten our fill from bargain outlets? (well, those with a 5below, that is). |

I don't think it's about people being stressed. It's just about acknowledging this huge milestone for this huge brand being treated by the parent company like an afterthought at best, an annoyance to be ignored at worst.

But how much of that is the fault of Hasbro, or the fault of retailers like Walmart who are perfectly happy not having GI Joe on their store shelves (even when Hasbro WAS making non-exclusive Joe product)?

Perhaps HTS had the opportunity to carry the product and decided it was just not in their best interest (?) It's all just speculation on my part. However, with as many threads as there are about people stockpiling stuff from 5 below and other bargain retailers, it makes sense that HTS wouldn't want to pick up new product only to have it sit and eventually be moved out on clearance. |

here we go again...you want the brand to carry on- go buy out all the toys on the shelves...don't want another snake eyes or flint? then donate him to a local charity and get some kid interested in him.
I myself dont mind the time off from retail- I think the club will continue to get better with the FSS and the CON sets- and I'm happy to save up all year to blow my cash on that stuff...they will have more figures out for the next movie

Anniversaries don't automatically justify production. The anniversary of something that doesn't sell is still just the anniversary of something that doesn't sell. What you call an "afterthought" is actually Hasbro giving a shit. They found the one retailer interested in carrying G.I. Joe and worked with that retailer to create the product they were willing to carry. If Hasbro truly considered G.I. Joe "an annoyance to be ignored", they wouldn't have even bothered. I mean, they had to pay someone to work on this admittedly limited 50th anniversary line. Someone was paid to design the product, and the packaging, to facilitate sales, production and distribution. It may not be what you were envisioning, but that doesn't discount Hasbro's efforts here. Hasbro is a business and they're just as subject to reality as the rest of us. |

I was very lucky to find the Night Viper a few times in the wild. TRU was the place for them. Though I only found him at 5 below only once. We still have GI Joe 3....I think. We will see how that plays out. AS of right now I do agree I like the time off.
