I've just returned, again, to Joe collecting, so i have plenty of catching up with figures, comics, etc and looking back into the lore of the Joe universe, but to people that have been collecting for awhile, and with scarce amounts of Gijoe related products year in and year out, what do you do to keep the interest for Gijoe forefront in your hobby? Thanks

It's not hard. I'm jaded, so there's not much I can tolerate in the world.

I'm always broke, so there are always holes to fill in. Lack of product just means I'm not falling behind.

Turn the lights down low, light some candles and...oh wait we're talking about GIJoe.
It does get hard to keep interest in GIJoe. Especially with the way Hasbro has been handling things recently. I tend to watch the old cartoons or atleast have it on while I eat breakfast and get ready for work of the morning and read the old and new ARAH comics. When we have lean years like the last few I end up buying lots of old ARAH stuff to complete my collection. For the last decade or so I've been collecting again I had avoided the Battle Corps era (93-94) and stopped at 1992 because 92 was the last year I had any Joes as a kid. Turns out the 93 and 94 Joes are pretty dang cool and slowly be surely I'm putting together a ,MOC/MISB whatever the preferred term is , collection of the 93 and 94 Joes. I have a little over half of the figures now but only two vehicles. I want to open them so bad. Some of those vehicles are damn cool looking. |

I stay in it by continuing to build my "army" and reading all the comics out there.

I think the biggest key is patience.
It's been great since 2007, but we can all admit the brand is waning. I think accepting it and keeping the faith are the best way to stay true to what we love. I've switched to different avenues for my collection over the last year - almost everything is KREO and Sideshow. I have very few 1:18 left. |

Good question. I'm grounded in ARAH.
My vintage collection is largely complete. My modern era is basically complete. Sideshow is mostly complete, and in KRE-O I'm waiting for my Terrordrome to arrive. I rotate displays and that gives me a reason to mess around with them. Right now my Transformers are ruling the room though. The only joe stuff I have out if my MOC 25th collection and my Sideshow Cobras. They do look pretty awesome to me though. I still just like to relax in my room looking around at them. My kids love them too.

Filling in the holes in my collection is always fun for me. A buddy and I hit up the local comic/hobby shops and TRU pretty regularly. Reading the old ARAH stuff is a good way to kill time.

I watch old Joe cartoons on Netflix and buy vintage Joes off eBay.

The 50th has really smacked my interest around quite a bit. It was soooo highly anticipated, and such a disappointment (for me). I guess the frustration has been building for a long time, from the problems with ROC, Renegades, the Great Delay, hiatuses etc. But with the 50th, my frustration really spilled over. I should probably walk away from it all for a long while, and maybe come back in a few years, or whenever I hear of something promising, like the debut of a new cartoon or something.
I’ve been dipping into some New Sculpt stuff lately. Crazy huh! Thought I’d pick up some of the better figures, just to get familiar with that era. Picked up these 2 recently: I am so down on Modern Era right now, I'm actually fantasizing about it's demise, and a change (or return) to something quite different... ...
