For those of us that grew up reading the Marvel Comic (I'll be 40 later this year), the ninjas were an integral part of the story. However, I also loved the cartoon, which had none of the ninja mythos. Either way, I obviously love GI Joe. I vote "No" on ninjas ruining GI Joe. Florescent colored army-men fighting human/reptile hybrids - now that's a different story.

Well, I mean they all had to know/train in some kind of martial art it's not like they just let the guy come in street fighting.
So even if it's not ninjas they still had some kind of hand to hand combat training that could involve some part of an Asain training regiment. I never understood the people that ever say GIJoe was pure military no sci-fi that that was later and what ruined GIJoe, I guess I missed that part.

I don't think Ninjas ruin GI Joe. Growing up I thought Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow were cool to have in my joeverse. The cartoon was for kids. I do think the whole ninja thing might have been overdone through the years but in the early years they do have their place in the comic books and cartoons.
If ninjas ruined GI Joe, don't forget Serpentor, Cobra La and many of the Sunbow cartoon episodes featuring fantasy and science fiction most of which were far from realistic.

No, Ninjas didn't and won't ruin G.I. Joe.
But when Paramount tried that all Joes including Roadblock were Ninjas, I screamed like Shinji Ikari...

There's a place for it but not everyone needs to be one.

Pre-Ninja Roadblock - "uhh, Ninja? I didn't know we had a Ninja..."
I agree with too much Ninja when everyone including Roadblock became a ninja.

Everything in moderation. Too much focus on the ninjas has kept G.I. Joe a bit stagnant.

Should've read the comic, the ninja story wasn't overblown until the 90's with Ninja Force. Up until then it was just Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow Hard Master, Soft Master, Jinx, Billy, and the Red Ninjas. Later on everybody got tied back into the death of the Hard Master. The comic's storyline was a hell of alot more believable then any episode of that cartoon ever was.
