I think this is where we will end up soon enough and I would have Dee-Jay ranked with most of them. Maybe Minh and Magda a little higher.

Basically, but it's not their fault. I've never seen a Savage cartoon or even read his bio, so I have no basis on which to vote for him. I've never seen the DIC series past Dragonfire and never read any Joe comics after about issue #100. Most people are in the same boat so they simply don't know who these characters are.
The first 40 are pretty hard to argue on much beyond nitpicks. But since then there re seceral characters that I've been unfamiliar with. I've either asked about it in the thread from surprise, or taken the time to google their appearances to try and understand why other people thought they were worthy. Wouldn't hurt others to do the same. The current trend of 87 and forget only strengthens Hasbro's policy of pumping out the same handfull of characters several hundred times rather than expanding the line, and is a large part of what is killing Joe. |

I really think you're reading this wrong. I think the bias is toward characters with figures, which also makes you wrong about the value of army-builders as characters. It's hard for me to argue the point too much without a bunch of later-year, figured characters making the poll. But I do think that's why certain '88 characters made it in before characters like Flagg, Shooter, Billy, and so forth.

I think we need a poll just for army builders. This poll obviously wasn't the right for them. And I want to be able to hand these polls to a company like Gentle Giant so they know which characters are going to sell the best. Obviously this poll doesn't represent the potential popularity of army builder figures. Every army builder that made it into this one would be one of their top sellers overall. And there are many more hot ones that would sell better than most of the top 100 "characters."

earlier it was noted that Savage had a lot of noms, well I nominated both Savage and Deep Six a few times. So I had to make a choice of who was the "greater character"
and tonight after reading the club newsletter I nom...Dash Jordan! a character I never ever knew the name of until now, and boy are he and his chohorts obscure.

Watch Nightmare Assault season 2 around about the ten minute mark.
