Ok. Typo in the title, this should be 94th greatest. If a mod could fix that, it would be awesome.
So JJ and lifeline. let me get this straight. a character's total would be there number of nominations to get into the poll, plus the total number of votes they received while in the poll. so characters who get in the poll and do well would stay, but characters who do not do well could come back out and a new character could enter the poll. That said, they would go close to the top of nominations. For example, say armadillo has 39 nominations and wildcard has 38. Armadillo would get in the poll and wild card would sit. Then say armadillo only received 3 votes but wildcard got 5 nominations. Armadillo would be at 41 while wildcard would be at 43, thus, armadillo would concede his place in the poll to Wild Card. Am I understanding this correctly?

I know I've been quiet lately, but if I get a vote, it'd be for the status quo. I think things have proceeded along perfectly, and I don't see a reason to change things up. It seems to me like this system will make people use nominations to possibly get people back on the ballot rather than add new people. Once someone is on the ballot, they should stay until the win.

Beef, that's the gist of it. Only difference is the nomination counts are only based on nominations, not on votes. So the votes in the poll don't have any effect on the nomination number. If you did that, characters in the poll would have a huge bump in numbers and they'd never get out. It's still one nomination per user per round to affect the count.
Basically, it's not as complicated as someone said. It's a minor change. The change is that everyone stays in the nomination list until they WIN the poll, not just get in. And at the end of the round, the new poll is created with the current top 10 characters by nomination count, as opposed to just taking the top 1 and adding it to the existing poll. This way, voters have the power to get new people in the poll and bump old ones out just through nominations. The logic seems fair at the base of it. If 5 characters have managed to accumulate more nominations than, say, Headman, it doesn't seem fair that Headman should get to stay in the poll while they stay out. This system could rectify that, and give the voters the power to take pollwarmers out. Absolutely people could nominate to make a character who's already in the poll stay in the poll if they want. But if a character is already at the top of the nomination count, few people would think that's a useful nomination. I'm sure some people will keep nomming a pet favorite until he has over 100 noms, but most people will realize the folly in adding more noms to a character who already isn't winning and instead try to get their next favorite in there. Also if people see their character is at the top of the nom list, they'll probably push for someone else, and wait to throw another nom to their favorite until he's at the cusp of falling out of the top 10. That's analagous to people throwing an actual vote to their favorite now to keep them from being one of the two to cycle out. But, again, if a character truly is consistently losing, it's doubtful most would keep trying to keep them in the poll. Last edited by JediJones; 08-10-2014 at 11:10 AM.. |
