That's not an insignificant advantage though. Beef was already saying he was going to start cycling 3 out of the poll once we got to 100. Eventually I figure that'll be up to 4 and 5. This is an alternate way of getting poor performers out of the poll. Except it's easier for the voter to see what is happening and why, and they have the power to affect what happens. My illustration is a static snapshot of where the numbers are now. But once people see how many noms it will take to get their character in and bump another out, the position of characters will move around more dynamically. And it will have a positive effect on getting more popular names in the poll. It's also easier for beef to manage. Simply picking the top 10 nominated characters at the end of the poll for the next one is easier than figuring out who to sit out and put back in.

Again, I vote for not getting rid of people on the list. The people on the ballot now deserve to be there. It seems like all this will do is waste cores restoring people back to where they've already earned a spot.

Someone who's lost over 60 polls in a row like Interrogator doesn't really deserve to be there. Not when 60 people have been added since then and beaten him to the finish almost every time, often on the first try. These perpetual losers are already being cycled off every other poll thanks to the last rule change. But they continue to waste space every time they're put back. This system would take them off more permanently but allow them to go back on the poll if they collect enough noms to do so. So when their time really comes, they'll be able to catch up again from where they left off.
You could just as easily say we're wasting noms trying to put people on the poll who have already collected more noms than Interrogator, Steel Brigade and Zanya ever did. Kamakura and 5 others have already earned more noms than them so it isn't fair that people have to waste more noms on them when they've already earned enough to bump them from the poll.
